Vegas Sucks Now!!!

These new big resorts are in for a rough ride. Resorts World only bringing in a little over 2 mil a day, translated bleeding money
with their overhead. Wynn across the street with half the overhead, over 6 mil a day in revenue.

I wonder how long Durango will last with $399 on weeknights and $25 min on BJ? They act like they're a strip property.

I don't follow it closely, but Durango may be betting on, inter alia, folks coming in for NFL, NHL, MLB (and more?) games looking and/or having to look off-strip.

We definitely have a lot of rooms in town, but this expanding sports venue aspect (also including -- to a lesser extent -- some of the lesser sports like WNBA, NFR, lacrosse, etc.) does bring a steady utilization of our overall capacity. A steady utilization that wasn't a factor previously.

(NFR -- in a bit of a contrast -- has been here for a while, but IIRC they either went somewhere else for a year or so or at least flirted with doing so. And that's one week or so in I think it's early December vs. multiple dates for a professional sports team. The more major sports leagues that jump on the Vegas bandwagon, the more we round out the calendar with that steady utilization.)

Some folks coming in for their team's Vegas date may want to or have to go off strip for any number of reasons, including the Strip being functionally booked with whatever is in town for that date over and above their game (like CES this upcoming week). Even before the Knights, Raiders, etc., I sometimes have had to get creative to get a reasonably priced (well, reasonable for Vegas pricing, anyway) room for staycation fun.

In that same vein, construction and property openings definitely serve as an indicator of an industry belief that additional capacity can be profitably added.

Pending projects were canceled, or shuttered if already started, back around the 07-08 recession.

Over the past couple of years, we've had the addition of the aforementioned Resorts World (nice property, although I haven't paid attention to their financials) on the Strip, the Durango off-strip property, and they also just recently filled out and opened the Fontainebleau casino on the North Strip. That last property theretofore had been a shuttered 68-story empty shell serving as a big freakin' testament to the pre-07-08 overreach driven by financial speculation on Wall Street and elsewhere.

I assume you’re going to the game, are you taking a tour of the stadium as well?
I heard the tour was a lot about the Raiders history which I could care less about. We're staying at the Aria and just are planning on throwing down for a couple of nights and hopefully head over to the game on Sunday (don't even have tickets yet). Figured with no playoff implications we'll just grab some tickets right before game time.

The tour was a lot about the history, but it was pretty cool. We got to go on the field at the end, although it was the UNLV shit turf field, but still a fun experience.

That thing looks surreal as I see it driving around and about . . . it looks like CGI added an alien ship to the Vegas backdrop.

I went to Durango last Saturday to watch the football semi finals games. The place was completely packed.

I think things are ok for now.

I hear The Sphere is worth nearly a 100 per head.
Great visuals would definitely pay to watch a movie,(star wars) or a football game. Thought sound was too loud vibrating against the seat. Paid $100 for there visual display Post cards from mankind(ran only 50 min)Didn't like it but visuals were unreal good.

Dana White has talked about plays of doing a UFC fight night at the Sphere. When you take into account the screen there is zero bad seats.

wonder if they will eventually have action movies there.

Hard to believe people pay that, I understand there's always a few dummies but are there really a couple thousand idiots to fill those rooms at those prices?

Loved the guy on IG that ordered 2 Fiji waters and a carafe of coffee at Fountainbleau. After room service fee, gratuity and tax....67 dollars. Saw the receipt.

Not sustainable with middle class families that fuel Vegas.

TYVM Morgan William!!!

Orders better come with a tube of KY Jelly. If they are gonna bend people over and FFFFFF them in their ass that will be needed to lessen the pain! Keep in mind IN ADDITION to the prices there are additional charges: $9 room charge, sales tax and 18% tip!

OUTRAGEOUS!

Rest assured for the Super Bowl these prices will all be increased at least 25%, if not more

Of course, bullishness ultimately can lead to a bubble and overcapacity, but for now the bullish on Vegas party is back underway.

Quick walk through the Fontainebleau today.

The sportsbook uses Stations lines, but it is a separate risk pool from Stations, per their response to my queries.

A swanky while very comfortable look to the book and associated upscale bar. Had some very comfortable looking chairs, almost reclining loungers.

Overall the property had a high end 1940s to 1950s classic vibe to it by way of the 21st Century -- maybe it was just the music they were playing then, which I couldn't quite put my finger on. Usually, I can identify the period and artist across a wide range of music, but couldn't nail it down this time as I walked around.

And it had a very clean new property smell.

It did look expensive at every turn -- I didn't stop for a drink or anything at one of the multiple bars and restaurants during the walk around, but it just looked like it would have been an expensive taste.

And, yeah, as discussed above, in prime time, the nubile women (some likely migrating from high end properties like Wynn/Encore) sitting in those bars also no doubt will be an expensive taste.
