10 of us went to Vegas for about 12 years straight for the Super Bowl. We stayed at Westgate and always go a table at the sports book. Got to Sportsbook at 7am and took turns reserving the table. Then they started charging $300 a seat. Our table now cost $3000. WTF!! 10 of us spent a good bit of money for 4 days! Now you couldn't pay us to go to Vegas and we still get our bets in and save a ton of cash!!

I don't understand this. They charge big money for these booths and I'm not sure you get any food or credit for it either. I think it's a minimum spend. I understand that betting they are only earning $5 for every hundred bet but I'm sure with a group a guys betting this booth could be comped.

Here is the REALLY phucked up thing. At caesars palace during the NBA finals and the NHL finals they were charging $50 a seat (I think you got 2 drinks) during the game.

The upper level was $200 (which was unlimited drinks). For three hours. Trust me you didn't have a waitress on the ready when you went dry.

Vegas will simply keep charging for anything and everything until something changes. But the market/people aren't saying no right now. Yes all you guys who have gone for years and years aren't going. They don't care. There are 5 people waiting in line to take your place.

As more states legalize sports wagering, the less of a need to go to Vegas.

The problem with California casinos, room rates are a couple hundred even for weeknights. And you have to play huge (slots)
to get any rooms comped. Moreover you have to pay for drinks. Vegas still has the free room/free drinks lure. You just
need to know where to go.

On a side note, the rooms are newer and better than anything I've seen in Vegas last few years.

The best thing Vegas has is California’s gaming laws. If they were bordering states like Michigan, Penn, or NJ, they would really feel it. My friend just got back from LV today, stayed at The D. He said there were few deals downtown, wanted nothing to do with the strip aw the UFC was going on.

our casinos here are even charging $5/beer now. I can gamble with the app.

I received a promo mailer for the 'newly renovated' Silverton Hotel off LV Strip South and Blue Diamond. 2 comp nights, food credit and free slot play. I booked for October (renovation completed). Just out of curiosity I took a look at the regular room rates for October/November. The rooms rates are from $159 to $659 (November Fri-Sat). Moreover the resort fee has increased from $19.99 to $33.99.

If you've ever gambled or stayed there you know it's a glorified truck stop. Sure, new rooms, 55 inch flat screen, et al.... nonetheless, the pricing is ridiculous. Some strip properties are cheaper.

Always liked Silverton.
Sportsbook isn't much.

Always easy check-in....park on the north side of hotel and the entrance is just a few steps from the room elevators....very easy in/out.
They target marketing to California.
New prices/fees....hmmmm

I've been 60-80 times. My first trip was greater than 25 years ago.

The ONLY reasons I go now are to enter the football contests, and if the season is profitable, another trip to collect.

The place sucks now. I just seemed to suddenly come to this conclusion after loving Vegas for many years. Yeah, part of it stems from being married and older, but if not for the football contests, I doubt I'd ever visit again. My better half went with me during January to pick up contest winnings. She doesn't sugarcoat things, and she thinks Vegas is a heaping garbage dump. What isn't a garbage dump is overrated, overpriced, superficial bullshit.

Unless the haul is 500k + I really doubt I'll ever again be able to convince her to travel to Vegas.
most major north american towns are now a dump thanks to the libtards and immigration

I have been 125+ times in my life.

Used to go 4-5 times a year especially with Sis living there since 1993.

Went there for a few hours in October, 2021, for an interview. Haven't been back since.

I wanna go but the way the hotels are screwing you from the start with room rates and then tables games with odds that make it impossible to do anything but lose money - PASS!

Next will be 4/5 blackjack.

DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY IDEAS!

I do think 6/5 will be as low as it gets although if they go to 11-10 it won't shock me at all.

As long as people are stupid enough to play no matter the odds casinos will keep screwing people over.

Don't be shocked if QUADRUPLE ZERO eventually comes into play.

I haven't played blackjack in LV for many years.

My LV trips used to be 4-7 days, but for this year's contest signups, I'll land on Thursday evening and leave Saturday evening.

A few sports bets, a couple steak dinners, but $0 table gambling.

At Bellagio saw 3-2 table next to a 6-5 table. 6-5 table was filled, 3-2 empty.

Just like you will find a Triple ZERO Roulette Table packed - while a table with fewer ZEROES (practically) empty.

I don't blame the casinos for doing this. They know 99.999999% of all people who come to town are stupid and will play the games no matter the odds so might as well screw them over for it. I have NEVER played ONE hand of 6-5 BJ and I am 100% sure that will never change.

See KENO for even bigger sucker. Play a card with 10 numbers. Hit all 10. Get $100,000. The casino will trumpet it and make sure everyone knows how great this is. The ACTUAL odds of 10-out-of-10 in Keno: ALMOST 9-MILLION-to-1!

Congrats LOSERS for playing a game where the ACTUAL payout is slightly more than 1% of the TRUE payout!............See 6-5 BJ as to why casinos do this!

I was out in the dakotas last month, worst players I've ever seen,, not just horrible play(they just dont know how) but incredible tipping. Some guys would tip every hand even though they're only betting maybe $10, saw one guy bet $25 on his hand and $25 for the dealer - the hand won and he broke even, the dealer made $50, LOL. He was so happy too, I dont think he had a clue that he was betting/risking with zero chance to win( I understand he could have got a BJ).

I saw it all, splitting tens, splitting 2's and 3's, even 6's against a face, doubling on 7, doubling on A-9, it was almost comical.

Times have changed – don’t know if Railbird or Viejo remember, but growing up in San Clemente in the 70s, the biggest OC gay area by far was Laguna Beach.
Old joke – how do they separate the men from the boys in Laguna? With a crowbar.
Little Shrimp main hang out.
Real estate was reasonable then. Not anymore.

Those court were tough to play on because of the ocean breeze would make outside shots hard to hit. Some great ball played there as well as Mile Square Park in FV. The games at MSP were as challenging and top-notch as any street games in all of CA.

Laguna Hills is a DUMP (Now)

I heard at one point they actually were advertising 6/5 BJ as if that was a positive.

Before Bobby Bryde passed away he posted a pic of some casino proudly saying on the marquee they paid a "Whopping 6-5 BJ."

Seriously!

Most people are either too stupid to know there is a 30-cent difference. OR (and this might be the case) Don't care! They come to Vegas to "have fun" and lose money which is why the casinos do this.

6-5 BJ is even worse if you fail to play a non $5 denomination. Bet $8 on 3-2 BJ and get $12 back. Bet $8 on 6-5 BJ and get $9 back. People don't realize 6-5 is for the $5 bet and then 1-1 on the other $3.
