Vegas Sucks Now!!!

Those court were tough to play on because of the ocean breeze would make outside shots hard to hit. Some great ball played there as well as Mile Square Park in FV. The games at MSP were as challenging and top-notch as any street games in all of CA.

Laguna Hills is a DUMP (Now)

I was lucky to be on a team with Billy Paultz (ABA) and Londale Theus (Santa Clara) in the early 80s down there. Besides the wind, another thing
I didn't like was the double rims so you couldn't bend the hoop. Still go to the Mex restaurant on the beach few times a year, Las Brisas.

Seems like Laguna went downhill when OJ moved in....

NOPE!

Las Brisas is now owned by XRG - who also owns: El Torito, El Torito Grill (Only one left off 57/Lambert - too bad cuz I love that place), Chevy's. Sol (Best location on Jamboree/PCH in Newport) and Solita.

Las Brisas is waaaaaaaaaay overpriced. You pay for the view.

Go across PCH and dine at "Urth Caffe" - muuuuuch better food and more reasonably prices. Was formerly "The Cottage"................I love eating at Urth. I only go to Las Brisas when someone else is paying and even then I feel guilty about eating there because it is just not worth it,

As for pickup basketball: I used to belong to Los Cab in Fountain Valley. I am there one day when we play a 5-on-5 pickup game. I see Devaughn Wright there. He just signed with us at Fullerton so I made sure to get on his team - after all he was going to be a D1 player. I will never forget THREE TIMES he went up for a slam dunk. ALL 3 TIMES I PUT BACK IN THE OFFENSIVE REBOUND! It was right then and there I knew we were in trouble with him - and we were.

The resort fee really soured me on Vegas. They wanted Expedia et al involved in the booking but didn't like the percentage they took. So they baited you into lower priced rooms, formed a resort fee keeping 100 percent.

Greed is not always good. 😐

I played 77-79…I knew the Whopper really well…I was still in the Marine Corps back then…did you play with Goorgian? He was a heck of a shooting stud…think his first name was Greg…

With the players Merlin mentioned in S.D., it probably is a positive. They'll go broke sooner and find something else to do.
Saw a guy yesterday who wanted to stand on 7, he said he didn't want to take the dealers bust card, the dealer and the rest of us talked him into taking a card and he got a 10 for 17, he lost the hand and was pissed.

Stupid players dont think rationally, it doesn't occur to them that a 7 against a low dealer card is pretty good, you can get a 2-3-4 and then get a really good hand, or a 10 or ace and you're still much better than 7.

When I was in SD and the fool doubled A-9, the table groaned, the guy said real loud..."I'm not playing my hand, I'm playing the dealers hand".

Just like playing poker the best players are always playing their opponents hand.

They will until the masses boycot. Ceasars will replace will app at the end of the year. Tier credits and rewards cut in half, free 30 per month for diamond + is now a free bet. 30cent first half lines 20 cent mlb lines and dealing a pinn clone sucks the equity out completely

why is this even news? who cares. what so people are going to have a harder time winning at stations because they don't have their sheet with those covers.com stats on the back that allows the regular person to win?

If you don't have the apps then you are just betting for fun. You don't need a sheet from the book just to have fun.

Still terrible for business for the recreationals imo. They love their sheets and it will deter some from gambling there now.

One positive is that Vegas rental cars have returned to what I consider reasonable prices.

2 day rental for a midsize during September @ $74 total.

last year I was in the black hills of SD, I was talking to a couple from out east and they were paying over $300/day for a rental, crazy.

Fun stories here about Vegas. I haven't been there since....damn, was it 2008???
I always get crushed there, but I still love it. I actually have a cookie jar that I plan to fill to $10,000 before I go back again. The last time I was there I was completely comped at the Palazzo.

I'm sure the place isn't as fun as it used to be.

At my buddy’s bachelor party a few years ago at MGM a group of college kids from New Jersey walked up on a table and one of em sat at 3rd base. On the first hand he proceeded to make the dumbest stand and it worked out for everyone at the table. We decided to play until his stupidity caught up to him. We played for over an hour and it was easily the most profitable table I’ve ever sat it with the dumb 3rd baseman saving the table almost every hand. They started switching dealers and the table finally went cold after the dealers started burning the deck early for a new deck. Totally shady but we left with sizable stacks.

It's supply and demand. If they can fill the casinos with people paying parking fees, high hotel rates, and gambling at poor odds that's exactly what they will do because it maximizes profits. Most vacationers seem not to care.

Some of this is creeping over to the local casinos away from LV also. Buyer beware.

The new Durango hotel has a small ATM box on the blackjack table...scan your card and give the value in chips.

Vegas is getting ruthless.

Early reports I’ve heard is that Durango is not bargain value deals friendly, nor is it AP friendly.
More Strip-like than a local value casino

Its supposed to be more upscale than Red Rock.
Given the room prices doubt there are few bargains around there.

Self-parking rates have increased at MGM Resorts International’s nine Strip properties.

The company on Friday confirmed that rates at all properties have been raised to $18 for Mondays through Thursdays, and $23 for Fridays through Sundays. MGM omitted its former one to four hour and four- to 24-hour rates.

MGM was the first company to charge for self-parking in 2016 and since then, other companies have followed. Today, only Treasure Island, Circus Circus and Casino Royale offer free parking in their lots.

Nevada residents will continue to be allowed to park free for three hours with a valid Nevada driver’s license. The company said there would be no change to hotel guest rates or valet parking.

Made my first venture to Durango due to a free play offer on Wednesday. Beautiful, great sportsbook. But yea, pretty expensive and awful (striplike) VP pay tables. Back to Red Rock I go.

I remember seeing a outdoor book too. With big screens, lawn chairs and lawn games.

I give them credit, more family friendly, families don't go broke.
