According to the World Nut Daily (motto: ?Making The National Enquirer Seem Credible Since 1997″) someone whose fake name and fake doctoral title is ?Dr Ron Polarik? is claiming to be an ?imaging guru? and has called Obama?s certification of live birth (COLB), ?a fake?.

?A computer imaging expert, who examined the ?Certification of Live Birth? of Barack Obama?s campaign posted online to rebut charges he is ineligible to be president due to the Constitution?s ?natural born citizen? requirement, says it?s a fake, and further, that such fraud is criminal.

The Obama campaign has told WND such allegations are ?garbage,? but Dr. Ron Polarik, who holds a Ph.D. in instructional media and is a ?guru? on computer technology such as printers, scanners and digital imaging, disagrees.?

Well, I?m the first to admit my Luddite status, so I turned to other imaging experts, with actual qualifications, and discovered that Polarik (gasp!) speaks with forked tongue.
According to Dr Neal Krawetz,

TechDude used a sample biased, false data, and artifacts created by his own tools to conclude that the Obama certificate of live birth (COLB) was fake. Dr Krawetz and his colleagues go into great, science-y detail while debunking Polarik?s claims, and they are most certainly worth a careful reading.
However, after all the whining wingers do about no-one ?vetting? Obama thoroughly, you?d think they?d have checked this guy out. According to the authority, i.e. himself, Polarik?s qualifications are listed thusly:

After a brief Google search, I was unable to find ANY dual major Doctorates in Instructional Media and Experimental Psychology, but who am I to doubt the word of a ?guru??
It seems ?Polarik? has been working this ?fake COLB? angle for a while now in a desperate gambit for attention. In a long comment on texasdarlin?s blog, Polarik declares that he was both ?the first to prove that Obama?s COLB image is a forgery? and, pricelessly, he also claims to have been ?the only one who did it honestly?.

Here is an actual Hawaii birth certificate from 1963 (the same era as the Kenyan's birth), which while redacted includes detailed information documenting a birth, including the name of the birth hospital and the attending physician. Beneath it is the short-form "Certification of Live Birth" offered by Hussein as proof of his Hawaiian birth. It is possible to have been born outside of Hawaii and still obtain the latter form, but not the former:

Besides being the First Sister Maya has a HawaiiaCertification of Live Birth despite be born in Jakarta Indonesia. Supposedly this certificate was used by the Daily Kos to forge an Obama version. Anyone find it odd that Maya, undisputedly born in Indonesia, would have the same type of document as Barack Obama to forge?

 Maybe this is the way political disputes play out in the Internet Age, but we think it is disgusting and dangerous. Someone flings a charge, then lets word of mouth, e-mail blasts and talk-show chatter turn an easily debunked allegation into a full-fledged circus of conspiratorial cover-up theories. Americans deserve better and need to demand some responsibility – especially from elected officials who seem most interested in playing to the worst instincts the political fringe has to offer.
There should be more politicians like Castle who say what needs to be said – the truth. Conservatives may harbor legitimate policy differences with Obama, but allowing this off-base attack regarding the president's citizenship to gain any foothold is simply dishonest
"Birthers," as these conspiracy mongers are known, theorize that Obama's mother gave birth to the future president in Kenya in 1961. Under one odd interpretation, Obama's 18-year-old mother, an American citizen, didn't meet an obscure law requiring her to have lived in the United States for at least five years after the age of 14 in order for her son to be eligible for the presidency. Other birthers argue that because Obama's father was Kenyan, the president has dual citizenship and is ineligible to sit in the White House. Still others claim his birth document is a forgery.
Never mind that Hawaii has confirmed Obama's "certificate of live birth" as a valid birth certificate. Never mind that a birth announcement was printed in a Hawaii paper in 1961. Never mind that the U.S. Supreme Court last year dismissed a legal challenge to his citizenship.
It's perfectly legitimate for any citizen to challenge any president's policies – in fact, the American democratic system demands it. But the screwy idea that a freely elected president somehow isn't the legitimate holder of the office is a dangerous chant that undermines the cherished institution.
In dark corners of the Internet, some wing nuts still allege that the president is a closet Muslim, just as others claim that former President George W. Bush knowingly allowed the 9/11 attacks for the purpose of some grand political gain. These attacks from both political extremes are vicious and baseless. They deserve rebuke.
It's bad enough for those on the extreme edges of politics to tilt at windmills, but it's far worse for those who should know better to fuel this paranoia.

CNN prez tells Dobbs Birther story "dead"

Seems like CNN executives have finally spoken up on Lou Dobbs' embrace of Birtherism. TVNewser is reporting that CNN/U.S. President Jon Klein e-mailed some of the staffers from Dobbs' show before it aired Thursday night to say, "t seems this story is dead -- because anyone who is not convinced doesn't really have a legitimate beef."
I've contacted a CNN spokeswoman for comment, and will update this post if and when I hear back, but in the meantime the report looks trustworthy, as TVNewser has what it says is the actual e-mail from Klein:

Dobbs basically followed the letter of Klein's e-mail in his Thursday night broadcast, but he didn't really adhere to the spirit of it. His presentation of the facts at hand suggested he was skeptical, and he continued to make some obviously inaccurate claims.
"President Obama promised transparency and openness in his administration. Yet he's chosen not to release his original birth certificate or a copy of it," Dobbs said. "Meanwhile, the state of Hawaii says it can't release a paper copy of the president's original birth certificate because they say the state government discarded the original document when the health department records went electronic some eight years ago."

And Dobbs' remarks left some room for interpretation by the Birthers, because he only referred to Obama's paper birth certificate being discarded, not all Hawaiian paper birth certificates, which is what happened. So the Birthers see this as yet another example of odd special treatment for Obama's records -- a cover-up!
In fact, the segment has actually fueled additional conspiracy theories -- unofficial Birther headquarters World Net Daily has posted it on its Web site, and bloggers are claiming a contradiction between what Dobbs reported and previous statements by Hawaiian officials.
For the record, there is no such contradiction.
A statement from October of last year from the Hawaii Director of Health Chiyome Fukino says, "I ... along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these types of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama's original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures." (Notice the lack of any wording to indicate that what they saw was a paper copy.)
Klein's information came from a June Honolulu Star Bulletin article about the state's procedures regarding birth certificates. The article actually refutes all of Dobbs' claims -- including the ones he made Thursday night -- as well as many of the claims made by the Birther movement generally.
The article quotes Hawaii Health Department spokeswoman Janice Okubo as saying the department "does not have a short-form or long-form certificate .... [What Obama released] is the same certified copy everyone receives when they request a birth certificate."
Update: A CNN spokeswoman has confirmed to Salon that the e-mail printed by TVNewser is authentic. But, the spokeswoman said, Klein's e-mail was not intended to rule out coverage of the story altogether; "new developments ... new additions, new information, new events," can be covered.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times' Matea Gold, Klein said essentially the same thing, telling her, "Certainly if there are future news pegs, then we have to take that story as it comes."
Gold also has some reporting from inside the network, about concerns on the part of Dobbs' staff about their show's coverage of the issue.
"Some of Dobbs' staff at CNN have told him and network executives that they are uncomfortable with his persistent focus on the story," Gold writes. "Dobbs pushed his producers to run another segment on the story July 17, a day he was off the air, that would feature two figures behind the Obama alien-birth campaign.
"His staff went ahead with the piece, but they wrote a script that called the rumors of the president's foreign birth 'the discredited rumor that won't go away.'"

If his school records show he received federal funds as a foreign student, the Kenyan has, AS AN ADULT, asserted that he is not an American. This means he accepted Indonesian citizenship (which requires renouncing American citizenship), and therefore cannot be considered a "Natural Born Citizen".

Once again, for the slow and trollish...

This means the Kenyan isn't constitutionally qualified to be president!

OR.....

It means the Kenyan committed a federal felony by fraudulently claiming foreign national status to illegally claim funds reserved for actual foreign students.

This being a federal felony and slam-dunk cause for impeachment.

Too far fetched?

Given the level of secrecy and obfuscation surrounding this issue, I'm not surprised.

For instance, why did Hussein, immediately upon entering office, sign an EXECUTIVE ORDER locking up and restricting ALL ACCESS, with a couple of exceptions to staff members, to his private birth and youth-related documents??

Folks, this isn't a conspiracy with a million twists and turns that can dodge the facts if they are indeed in Hussein's favor.

If Barack Hussein Obama is truly eligible to be POTUS, by virtue of being a naturalized citizen to hold the office of President, all he needs to do is release all pertinent legitimate documents -- just like any other official running for office and this will all go away.

But he won't do it, and instead sends his henchmen out to poo-poo the entire growing movement -- We The People of the United States demanding answers.

You know why?

Cause the Kenyan's a fraud, that's why.

First of all...

I am not interested in debating McCain (in this thread).

I am not interested in debating Bush National Guard AWOL conspiracies (in this thread).

Those issues have long been settled.

This one has not.

It pisses me off that you always feel the need to obfuscate and derail the subject matter by trying to counter with a perceived equivalent wrongdoing (in your eyes, I'm sure) from the other side.

That is not 'debating'. In fact, it only ends up veering the conversation off the rails in a direction nowhere near the subject heading.

With respect to Snopes, nothing contained in the link addresses the previous points I made.

I never once claimed Hussein's birth certificate to be a 'fake'. What I have said repeatedly is that the short-form certificate we've all seen 1,000 times proves nothing because anyone born outside or inside Hawaii can produce the same document. That's all.

Whether the Kenyan was born inside or outside the United States at this point is almost irrelevant to a much more disturbing point.

It is this:

Whatever is on that birth certificate (not to mention the thousands of other documents that remain secretly locked away from public view) is pretty incriminating.

That is why he won't release it.

It will probably sink his presidency 2-4 years from now when Republicans take back Congress.

This isn't "9/11 was an inside job" with a neverending shifting plot.

All the Kenyan has to do is release an $18 birth certificate and this story fades away.

This is a growing movement that is now penetrating mainstream news outlets, the halls inside the Capitol and the Republican hierarchy.

This is an unprecedented political scandal in the making that will rock the establishment.

How the fuck does a dirt-poor Kenyan afford to go to Haaaavaaad, anyway? Huh? Where did he get the money? Who ghosted "Dreams of my Father"?

So many questions....so few answers.

CNN President Brushes Off Criticism Of Lou Dobbs’ Continued Floating Of “Birther” Theories

CNN/US president Jonathan Klein is rebuffing the mounting criticism of the network over Lou Dobbs’ continued airing of “birther” theories, saying that Lou runs “his own show” that merely hosts “panels” with birther theorists and asserting that CNN respects viewers enough to let them “make up their own minds.”

Klein, in an interview with me just now, also took a shot at Dobbs’ critics, saying they’re politically motivated: “I understand that people with a partisan point of view from one extreme or another might get annoyed that certain subjects are aired.”

CNN is under mounting pressure to get Dobbs to stop giving airtime to birther theorists and suggesting there’s something to their case, which he’s been doing even though the network has repeatedly debunked the theories.

Jon Stewart recently mocked Dobbs for not even watching his own network. Media Matters has blasted CNN for “mainstreaming the fringe.”

The Southern Poverty Law Center called for Dobbs’ firing today, and MoveOn is demanding CNN apologize for Dobbs’ “helping to spread hate and fear.”

“Look, Lou’s his own show, and CNN in general has repeatedly and thoroughly reported on the facts behind this situation,” Klein said to me, adding that Lou had merely hosted “a few conversations with people representing a wide range of opinions.”

Klein said that Dobbs has repeatedly stated that he believes that Obama was born in Hawaii, and has simply been examining the “phenomenon that for some people this won’t go away.”

Asked if CNN is concerned that Dobbs’ repeated granting of airtime to theories the network has conclusively debunked amounts to overkill and could harm CNN’s credibility, Klein brushed off the possibility. “We respect our viewers enough to present them the facts and let them make up their own minds,” he said, adding that what Dobbs does is “his editorial decision to make.”

Klein sent a private memo to Dobbs staffers yesterday saying the birther story is “dead” and questioning its legitimacy, but Dobbs has continued to discuss it on the air, anyway. Klein said the memo wasn’t a sign of concern, however, calling that conclusion “overblown.”

Asked if CNN would take any action if Dobbs continued airing the birther theories, Klein said No: “I think no good journalist would ever say that a particular story will never be covered again. Every day brings new facts, new pegs.”

HONOLULU -- State officials in Hawaii on Monday said they have once again checked and confirmed that President Barack Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American citizen, and therefore meets a key constitutional requirement for being president.
They hoped to stem a recent surge in the number of inquiries about Obama's birthplace.
"I ... have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawaii State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American citizen," Health Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said in a brief statement. "I have nothing further to add to this statement or my original statement issued in October 2008 over eight months ago."
So-called "birthers" -- who claim Obama is ineligible to be president because, they argue, he was actually born outside the United States -- have grown more vocal recently on blogs and television news shows.
Fukino issued a similar press release Oct. 31, but was prompted to speak out again because of the renewed attention on Obama's beginnings. Hawaii's Health Department has been flooded in recent weeks with questions from individuals and several national TV news networks asking for proof that Obama was indeed born in Hawaii.
"They just keep asking over and over and over again," Health Department spokeswoman Janice Okubo said.
The Constitution states that a person must be a "natural-born citizen" to be eligible for the presidency. Birthers contend that Obama's birth certificate is a fake, and many say he was actually born in Kenya, his father's homeland. They've challenged his citizenship in court.
One widely circulated YouTube clip of a town hall meeting showed a Republican congressman getting booed for saying Obama is a citizen. Talk show host Rush Limbaugh and CNN's Lou Dobbs have also raised the issue, and 10 Republican members of Congress co-sponsored a bill that would require future presidential candidates to provide a copy of their original birth certificate.
However, it appears Congress has moved on and has accepted Obama's island birthplace. The U.S. House on Monday unanimously approved a resolution recognizing and celebrating the 50th anniversary of Hawaii becoming the 50th state. A clause was included that reads: "Whereas the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961."
State law bars the release of a certified birth certificate to anyone who does not have a tangible interest.

That was in 1966, when Obama was five. The records of the Catholic school Obama/Soetoro attended for three years identify him as a citizen of Indonesia.
