With the world facing its first truly global energy crisis, the International Energy Agency’s annual World Energy Outlook could hardly be clearer: There’s no going back to markets and trade flows as they were. We’re still underspending on the green transition, but policies today mean fossil fuel use could peak within a decade. The upside for coal is temporary, the golden era for gas is over. And the clearest loser is Russia.
The hydrocarbon-dependent economy was vulnerable well before its invasion of Ukraine. Moscow made only token efforts to adapt to climate imperatives even as its key customers did, relying on oil rents and overestimating the role of gas as a transition fuel. Now, the IEA says, that’s over.
Russia will never go back to fossil fuel exports at levels seen in 2021. Its share of internationally traded gas is seen shrinking from 30% last year to half of that by 2030. The country exported over 7 million barrels per day of oil last year, but the IEA estimates that falls by a quarter by 2030, even in the least-demanding scenario. By the mid-2020s, North America is exporting more oil than Russia.

This is 2022, the "prediction" is that in 8 years russian oil exports might drop from 7 million bbls/day to 5.5 - and that's if they're right, doesn't sound like a disaster to me.
the disaster is after that. More battery cars. More nuke plants. climate change it will lose more. The price who knows it could be worse.

Dont make me laugh, more nuke plants? Those two reactors in GA have been under construction for 16 years, are 10-13 billion over budget and are still a yr away from starting. If they stsrted designing now - which they wont, it would be 2040 before they're ready.

they should be done in 2023... the west has oil companies in russia but a lot are gone
china putting in a lot....like 30 of them...........do you honestly think china will stick with fossil and pay russia ? there are no unions in china. They work 2-3 shifts

What do chinese nuke plants have to do with energy shortages in europe and elsewhere? 30 nuke plants in china wont even absorb new demand. 10 years from now the world will be using more oil and gas than now. Any meaningful drop is likely 20 years away - if then.

the US and Europe still doing oil business with russia. That will be reduced in the future. You are thinking russia is on their own already with the numbers. Nope.

I've owned southern company stock(who owns that plant) off and on during the years, so I've followed this closely, it's always 6-12 months from opening. in 2018 it was a year off.
Granted the plants are basically done and what's left is mostly the final touches and qualifications, i expect each plant will be pushed back "just a few more months".

Russia is not on their own, the world is realigning into the pro US lackys and everyone else. Russia will supply asia and india with lots of energy. In 3-4 yrs when russia and china complete new pipelines russia will be sending them all the gas that formerly went to europe.
it will in the short term and as long as you are giving them discounts. Those two country will play russia vs saudi more than ever

Apparently a few days ago in Ukraine a large group of mostly polish and romanian mercenaries were ordered to attack russian positions - basically being used as cannon fodder. They refused and told the ukrainians "maybe you guys should go first" . the ukrainians sent in their Nazi enforcers and the two sides shot it out, the nazi's suffered dozens of dead, LOL.

yep .. these insurance companies are horrible. No matter where you live. Always better to pay more and go with the top companies they pay better. .sort of like the bookmakers, The pru, allstate etc.
