Have to praise Jimmy and Lucky's for the scope of their Superbowl props. It was quite an undertaking, and you give "props" to the joints that didn't just copy the Hilton.
But there are problems.
One is distribution. Individuals were betting the Lucky's props numbers before the sheets were even available to the public. Can a joint take bets from somebody if the casino sup tells others the bets aren't out yet? I guess you can.
Also, I know that the people who make the lines must be nervous about the opening lines they offer, particularly for a book that doesn't copy and wait for the lines to settle. But if you are going to hang a line, it should be honored. Here's what happened the first night. Approach the window and ask for Lyle Schwartz under 43.5 receiving yards for a nickel. Came up on the system 43.5 yards. And then you would wait....and wait...and wait...and wait...for approval, until even the writer was embarrassed. then it would come back... DENIED. Then the writer would punch the bet in again. SURPRISE! It was 40.5!
Lucky's wasn't moving on air the first night. They were moving on whim. Called them on it once, and Reno restored the original line.
But that probably needs some work.

Reason for asking is that Jimmy V said score would be GB 21- Pitt20 and Betto has is GB24-Pitt22 so 2 1/2 would be very live!!

I liked Jimmy's truth on if he could get away with offerering a 40 cent line he would but the competition is too keen. Discrete Cat talks about the KY Derby future book but it is getting to be almost a thing of the past. Here in Reno there are only three places that evern have sheets for the Derby. One has 92 entries, one has 120 and Jimmys place has 198 listed. I know there are 300-400 Derby horses at least and with only 20 starters do they ever lose?? Most of the joynts are just going with the three pools at Churchill and the 18% takeout, Is it too tough to manage or what???
