NY Senator Files Bill for Online Betting on NY Horse Races
A New York senator has filed a bill aiming to allow mobile sportsbooks in the state to offer fixed-odds wagers on horse races.

The Sport of Kings had limits with their fixed odds offerings and yet they still had problems with the wiseguy action.
Though it was losses in the sports book that eventually caused the doors to close.
Never a good thing for a race and sports operator when your largest bettor (Billy Walters) has more bullets than you.
Our friend Jack L was in charge when the Sport of Kings met its fate…he then migrated to Costa Rica to run CRIS…I had the pleasure of working with him for several years…

That's when some Las Vegas casinos catered to horseplayers.
Not anymore.
When Cantor and William Hill arrived in town, it was the beginning of the end for Nevada's race book industry.
The Coast Casinos still cater to them. Hold lots of tournaments.
Good point.
But there are no race books anymore at the Sahara or Tropicana or Ellis Island.
And look at brand-new Resorts World, they offer a sports book but no race book.
Tsk tsk.
Blue, you got one good recall memory. i spent 1994 and 1995 in the Riviera Race book. i forgot about the glass top tv's until you mentioned it.Riviera with the glass tops and the 2 black push-buttons... one for up channel up...one for down
Ellis Island had a racebook?
Ellis Island had a small race book. I hit a big exacta that paid $200+ while eating breakfast 10-12 years ago. I had it 8 times on a couple tickets. Writer was miffed as I tipped him $20. I think he was expecting more.
Just weird that I saw the sportsbook window in the Longhorn but I somehow missed the book @ Ellis Island
