Williams was really good in the 1st half of games but came up small in the 3rd & 4th quarters against anyone decent. In their loss to UCLA who is decent but sucks on defense he lit up the Bruins in the 1st half. In the 2nd half they scored all of 10 points in a 38-20 loss. Against Notre Dame he threw 3 interceptions in the 2nd half in a 48-20 loss. In the loss to Washington 52-42 his offense didn't score a point in the 4th qtr. Against Oregon scored two late meaningless TD's when they trailed 36-14. He looked good in games versus garbage teams & defenses. Against anyone average or good the guy didn't come up big. Get my drift? He's a good prospect and very well might go #1 but outside of his physical tools something is missing upstairs. I just don't think he's a natural born leader. I don't see him elevating a team like New England or Tennessee especially if they have to give up assets like good players and future top draft picks.

Not saying Fields is a top 15 QB but how can you really tell how good someone is when except for WR DJ Moore and TE Kmet the offensive line, RB's and WR's are complete lower level dog shit. Also the offensive scheme was horrible. Fields needs either a clean pocket or to be moved around more. I think I saw something where his numbers with a clean pocket his numbers were great. If they keep Fields they have to be thinking they need to get someone like Marvin Harrison and a center in the draft. If they trade Fields and draft a QB #1 they should take the 2nd best WR with the #9 pick in the 1st round, a center in 2nd round and a RB with pick they get for Fields.

RB Herbert is definitely not "dog shit". 364 carries and 4.9 yards/carry and still 0 fumbles. 90 percent of the RBs wish they could get that production, esp considering not the best O line.

Da Bears 🐻 need to maximize their leverage with that 1st pick regardless of what they intend to do. Absolutely a huge draft for them this season!

I would think so especially considering they only have to move up 1 spot. Kingsbury knows what Caleb can do after being around him the last year. Will be a great move for Washington.

Cook County panel rules against Bears' tax appeal on Arlington Heights property

CHICAGO (CBS) – The Chicago Bears lost the latest round in the team's fight to lower the property tax bill for the proposed site in Arlington Heights.

The Daily Herald reported the Cook County Board of Review ruled in favor of the existing valuation of the former Arlington Park Racecourse, meaning the Bears would have to pay about $15 million in property taxes.

But the decision wasn't final.

The Bears and three school districts in the Arlington Heights area have until Saturday to negotiate a lower valuation.

Recently, the Bears have been looking into an enclosed stadium along the lakefront on parking lots just south of their current home at Soldier Field, said a source familiar with the project. They’re working with Mayor Brandon Johnson’s office, the law firm of Sidley Austin and investment bank Goldman Sachs on a potential public-private partnership. The source said specific details about such a project for the Bears could be released soon

Here is the whole article if anyone was interested:

Even as the possibility emerges for the Chicago Bears to build a new stadium in the city, the team has resumed negotiations with suburban school districts over the property taxes for their proposed stadium site in Arlington Heights.

Arlington Heights Mayor Tom Hayes said he remains optimistic for an agreement, and poured cold water on news that the Bears and White Sox are in conversations about combining public financing for new stadiums for each in Chicago.

“I have to laugh at these reports,” he said. “I don’t think it’ll ever come to fruition. It makes absolutely no sense.”

The source said specific details about such a project for the Bears could be released soon.

As proposed, the Bears and White Sox would seek taxpayer-backed financing through the Illinois Sports Finance Authority (ISFA), just as they have now. But the 2% Chicago hotel tax meant to pay annual debt owed on the teams’ current stadiums fell short last year, leaving the city to make up the difference with its share of state income taxes.

There are still considerable bills to pay for both stadiums. Debt service costs — mostly for Soldier Field — are projected to ramp up in the coming years, rising from $60.2 million in 2025 to $90.5 seven years later, according to ISFA records. In all, the bills total $582 million through 2032, the debt’s maturity date.

ISFA raised $150 million for the White Sox in 1989 and $399 million for Soldier Field in 2001. At the time, those borrowing limits were capped by state law but a provision snuck into state legislation last year allowed legislators to vote to allow ISFA to refund or restructure bonds before the end of 2024.

ISFA could stretch out the timeline to pay back leftover debt and raise some revenue for a new stadium to be paid back with those same hotel revenues, but that sum is likely far short of the full cost of one stadium, let alone two stadiums.

The White Sox’s Jerry Reinsdorf seemed to acknowledge as much when he pitched hotel taxes on top of a new overlay district to capture sales taxes, plus shifting a portion of Chicago property tax revenues dedicated to infrastructure to the stadium instead.

And there appears to be so far little appetite to subsidize private development from Gov. J.B. Pritzker or Senate President Don Harmon. Harmon told both teams to come up with a joint proposal so lawmakers could assess a full plan.

While Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has seemed more amenable to securing a deal to keep the teams in town, he also faces mounting budget pressures and has committed to reducing the city’s reliance on tax increment financing, or TIF, districts that would typically help pay for megaprojects.

Although Hayes has seen a proposal to put both stadiums on the 78, the vacant South Loop site proposed for a new Sox park, the Arlington Heights mayor said it wouldn’t accomplish the Bears’ stated goals to own a stadium and have room for a surrounding entertainment district.

The team paid $197 million to buy the former Arlington Park site more than a year ago, and proposed a $5 billion development to include a stadium, housing and entertainment. But the Bears were unable to reach agreement with three local school districts over property taxes for the site, which sits vacant since the team demolished the former racetrack grandstand.

Arlington Heights officials have been continuing to encourage an agreement with Arlington Heights-based Township High School District 214, Palatine-based Township High School District 211, and Palatine Community Consolidated School District 15, which collect most of the property taxes from the former Arlington Park.

“We’re talking to them,” Hayes said of the team and the schools. “We’re trying to emphasize that they’re very, very close. I’m still hopeful that we’re going to come to an agreement.”

While the Cook County assessor reassessed the property to $192 million, close to the sales price, the Cook County Board of Review lowered that to $125 million. The result would still raise the Bears’ potential property tax to more than $10 million, which the team says prevents its development.

The Bears are likely to challenge the tax ruling in Cook County court or to the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board, but either option could take years to resolve. The team doesn’t pay property taxes on its current home at Soldier Field because the Chicago Park District owns the site.

Any proposal to build a stadium on the lakefront would run into opposition from the Friends of the Parks, which previously filed suit to stop a proposed Star Wars museum in the same area.

At an unrelated event Thursday in Decatur, where the Bears were founded more than a century ago as the Decatur Staleys, . Pritzker was asked whether he’s spoken to the Bears or White Sox since expressing his reluctance last week to provide major state funding for sports stadiums.

“No new developments,” he said. “Nothing new.”

The Bears reissued a statement that the team “will continue to work with local municipalities to select the best location for the future stadium of the Chicago Bears that will bring a transformative opportunity to our region — boosting the economy, creating jobs, and generating millions in tax revenue.”

The NFL, which approved a $200 million loan for a new Buffalo Bills stadium, is expected to provide a multi-million dollar loan for the Bears project, wherever it ends up.

Surprised Nobody Has Grabbed Fields.

You Can Get Him For 3.2 Mil. Salary With 6 Mil. Cap Hit For 2024.

The Problem Arrives in 2025.

A 25 Mil. Salary With a 25 Mil. Cap Hit.

A cap hit of 6 million for 2024 and 25 million for 2025 is actually cheap compared to what the market is now. Kirk Cousins just got 45 million per for 4 years and Tua is about to get 50 million or more a year. Fields has room to grow. Cousins & Tua's is maybe 1 wild card playoff win.

The problem is fields is not just a average QB, he's a bad QB, he's great running weapon but that's it, and in a couple years his running ability will start to wane.

The Bears have to be trading down from #1 in the 1st round to #3 or #4 & keeping Fields to add Marvin Harrison Harrison Jr or else they totally shit the bed and waited too long to trade Fields. Maybe the Broncos need a QB but Fields doesn't fit their system at all. They went from maybe getting a 2nd round pick to at best probably getting a 4th rounder. The only two teams that need QB's now are the Commanders at #2 and Patriots at #3.

Denver needs a QB as bad as either Wash or NE.

Of course Denver needs a QB in the worst way, read above but Fields is very similar in a lot of ways to Wilson in that he can't make pre snap calls and find a 2nd receiver if the 1st target is covered. I'm guessing Denver drafts either Bo Nix or trade up and gets JJ McCarthy.

Sean Payton wants " eyes downfield"
That wasnt wilson and its certainly not fields
Exactly, fields motto is take a quick peak downfield and then prepare to run, no one want's that in a QB. The only way to really stop him from running is to have him throw quick designed short passes like bubble screens.

Fields cant process at the speed thats needed in the NFL.

As time goes along things that were suspected are leaking out.

He is not a student of the game...doesnt seem that interested in learning.

Isn't vey interested in what he calls "that pocket stuff"

He is a youtube QB

DJ Moore and Keenan Allen might just be the best starting WR duo in the league. OK maybe 2nd behind Miami, but close.

Bears have amassed some good skill people. Swift out of the backfield is a good receiver. Can't see them doing this to keep Fields.

At first I though the Bears should keep Fields and trade the pick, I've changed my mind, if the goal is to compete for a championship, which should be the goal of every team, Fields isn't getting you there, I have no idea what kind of QB Williams will be, but if he hits, he could be a franchise guy, his skill set is what you want in a franchise QB, no team is competing for a championship with Fields, they should take Williams, the trade for Allen was a great one, the pairing of him and Williams could be exciting, I don't know what the market for Fields is, but it takes two to dance, it's possible nobody wants him
