No need to have them both. I pay 500 a month, FWIW.....
Best of luck
<DIR>I would like to say the management of gjupdate and myself has been cleared up and I no longer feal you need to get an account at don best. GJupdate has done a very well job in the past several years and are only getting better. Gjupdate is a good live line service provider!
Thanks GJUpdate for clearing that up for me.

I have no ties to either site. I compared the sites during Feb/March and found GJ had faster updates on many of the key shops. DB was faster on many as well. I actually spoke to customer service about the issue. I gave the lines moves on about 4-5 key books b-4 he had them. He couldn't offer an explaination. I took the time to write a lengthy email to mangement asking why I should pay 3x as much for their service when Pinnacle and several other key shops are updated faster on GJ. I received a letter back acknowledging the pinnacle problem but a denial that any other shops were updated faster on GJ. I was dissappointed that he was unwilling to be truthful with me about the issue. It is a FACT that GJ has faster updates than DB on some key shops. The problem is many are updated faster on DB. I believe that people just stay with DB becuase they have been with them for years. The line change speeds are not that different. I believe you either buy both or GJ by itself. If having the fastest line updates is really that important to you, DB is NOT faster on all the key shops, thus you need both. If you don't care about a few seconds here and there, why would you urinate your money away to DB? GJ is good enough and pretty much the same product for much less. I do like the DB layout better and I always found customer service at DB to be very good. Apples and oranges, I canceled both for the summer break and will see if either has improved by August.
things to consider.
don best is 100% controlled by CRIS (in cahoots)
don best has been raided by the feds at least twice
Dana willingly gave all customer info to them ( he had no choice)
the problem is lines posted by CRIS are cloned by everyone.
who is to say they dont post a bad line on purpose
then call all over the world and bet it themselves.
GJ is run by Vegas Mike and even though Sam at DB is good
Mike has more God given ability to aquire information through
the net than anyone I know.
the way to take control of the biz is have somone other than CRIS
post the numbers. somebody sharp real sharp.
Hey Mike, I have a question.
If you say you know your website isn't that great, then why not update it?
Most people still do judge a book by it's cover, especially on the internet. Seems like a no brainer there.
BTW, I don't use either service (used DB for about 6 months several years ago), but I've heard lots of great things about G&J and very little about DB lately. The "we're too big to bother" corporate mumbo jumbo seems to sum up what I hear about DB.
In a business where your main job is serving individual customers you'd think CS would be a priority. Sounds to me like it's a priority with G&J because they're still small.
I have no real need for a line service. Hell I just played 5 games and three of the lines moved against me and I still played them. Shows you how serious I am I guess.
Website is being updated now. We just never really put too big a priority on the website because most of the more hard-core gamblers could really give a shit about a website. Our bread-and-butter has always been the service, we never relied on advertising revenue too much, so the website was always an after-thought. Sure, it probably hurt us a little, which is why we are working on it now.
I've asked before, but I'll ask again... is there any plan to get matchbook back on the feed, I know it was slightly crippled last year (probably from their XML) but was still very useful for me.
Alternatively, or also, I'd like the option to display (for example) Pinnacle and Pinnacle_PR side by side, rather than having to click "previous", enabling me to do a direct comparison on how far the line has moved without having to do the extra two clicks back and forth.
Santo,
I just got your email. I fired up the old Matchbook feed and it still seems to be functioning. I will work on incorporating it into our new system and see if I cant have that up for you by today.
Much appreciated Mike. Is it feasible to display the _PR lines on the same screen, if only for the leading few books? I'm not sure how your technology works in terms of displaying the previous data.
This was a hillarious thread. I have to try a line service out now, AK you better be right about don best or you suck monkey balls.

I know it's been a holiday weekend, but is this still looking like a go for this week?
Originally, I decided not to chime in, but I must say something here...
BOTH GJ UPDATE & DON BEST are EXCELLENT lines services...
However, in my opinion, one seems to be making all the right moves lately, whereas the other is moving slightly backwards...
I'll let the posters and gamblers figure this one out...
