Now then, as regards the toilet bowl of a forum site that SHALL remain nameless that recently BANNED me for (of all things) DISSING BITCOIN, it's full of JUNKIE TICO CRACKHEADS, MEAN SPIRITED MODS and WASHED UP FAILURES that sit around bashing the SHIITE out of each other for no good reason.

How does one avoid exceeding risk management protocols with Bitcoin?

Example:

You bet 1% of your "Bitcoin roll" on an event and during that time or soon after, bitcoin currency is devalued and that 1% has turned into 10% of your roll or worse.

How can you avoid taking on unauthorized position sizes with such uncertainty swirling around bitcoin currency?

nobody should be storing bitcoin

assuming you're dumb enough to store bitcoin, it is problematic, but a nightmare scenario is that you lose half your value over night. Not 90% of your value like in your hypothetical. So a 1 unit bet would be more like a 2 unit bet. Sure, that's not good for money management to go from 10,000 to 5,000 in 2 or 3 days, but like I said, you should not be storing bitcoin anyway as a gambler.

Don't take the hypothetical so literally, it could have went from a 1% to a 2% resizing; the point was how do bitcoin gamblers deal with this uncertainty when it comes to sizing positions.

I thought Bitcoin gamblers actually bet with Bitcoins but like I said, I am not clued in at all about Bitcoin, completely off my radar.

It just increases the gamble. If you believe bitcoin will increase in value, you'd be a fool not to store some.

I own stocks and I own some bitcoin. The price of bitcoin could plummet just as my stocks could tank. I assume the risk. My holdings are continually fluctuating depending on how often I need to deposit into sportsbooks, and where the price stands.

I don't really see why it's hard to understand why people would store bitcoin.

Bitcoin is absolutely not random. It is a bit harder to determine ebbs and flows but research yields results. I bought a lot of bitcoin when it was trading in the 220-260 range. My holdings are substantially less now, but I still have some.

People research stocks and are wrong about them all the time. I bought GE in early 2007, when research indicated that the company was well positioned for the future. Unfortunately, the entire market crashed. You were screwed regardless of what you had chosen.

With bitcoin and stocks, all you have are educated guesses.

My educated guess is that by the end of this year, bitcoin will be worth more than it is currently worth. I could be wrong, but it's more likely that I am correct.

Bitcoin fundamentals are more opaque than with traditional stocks, but they are still present.

As regulations and views towards bitcoin change around the world (thus impacting the demand), so the price goes. None of that is random.

In any 10 year period, stocks go up.

Bitcoins is just random, it's not based on anything. There are patterns, sure, but it could go to 0 tomorrow or 1200. Finding some inside info like US was about to ban bitcoin acceptance or something and that'd be a good thing to know. Otherwise, this is just based on ideas.

The same could go for sports gambling. If markets were perfectly efficient, then everything is factored in, and to the correct proportions.

Some things are not weighted correctly. As with stocks, so with gambling.

There's a reason I bought GE and Microsoft, as opposed to other companies.

As for the any 10 year period thing, that's not strictly correct. Some stocks will never fully recover from the crash.

The indices are not the issue here, the individual holdings are.

It depends what you're going for.

If you're trying to tie your funds to the general market, then you could simply buy into a mutual fund, or approximate something similar by buying many different stocks.

Someone managing a fund generally needs to be more conservative than an individual.

Sometimes diversifying risk is necessary, sometimes it is not.

People have different goals.

No sir, if you go back and look at the history I was banned for expressing doubt about the validity and sfety of bitcoin. Also a freind came to see me in CR at a bar near th;e Del Rey and wrote a short note about our visti and hey HE gets banned too, I mean wtf, this guy is from Hong Kong (American but you know) why was he banned? How is writing a note about meeting a freind a bannable activity?

Most fiat books now allow bitcoin deposits. They immediately convert the bitcoins to cash so that you never have to worry about bitcoin price fluctuations.

I play at bitcoin only books. There's no need to keep deposits in a bitcoin book since deposits/withdrawals are instant and free to 3 cents at most. This allows you to play at many books since there's no need to ever leave money in a book. Another nice thing about bitcoin only books is that most are reduced juice.

A while back when the fluctuations were huge, I day traded e-currencies through BTC-e and cryptsy. You are making a lot of uniformed assumptions.
