$100 Laptop Effort Gains Momentum
The technical specifications of the $100 laptops, which are expected to be ready for shipment by the end of 2006 or early 2007, were also confirmed.
The existing design includes an innovative wind-up power source, runs on open source Linux software, and will be Wi-Fi capable. The machines will feature a 500 MHz processor and 1GB of onboard memory.
