It was a lot less money than this, so I was properly hedged the final week.
However, with the scenario these three players were involved with, Stevens would have to be willing to make a deal or it would just be one heck of a sweat. He gave me a marker to hedge with when I asked, but 50-100k isn't 500k-2M. It worked for me and added a nice chunk to my bottom line.
As CB mentioned, picking the Colts this week, likely is a sign the guy wasn't interested in hedging or arranging a deal for large casino credit. Now that it's over, hopefully Tuley and/or VSiN will post the scoop. I'd like to know if and how these guys hedged their equity this weekend. Some gamblers will not hedge. Not hedging something doesn't make sense to most of us here, but the reality is that different strokes for different folks, no matter the stakes.
Two years ago when I went the distance with the initial Circa Survivor contest. One guy had two entries remaining the final week. His handle was "Love My Baxter." He used Washington with both entries. The line steamed from -2.5 to 6.5. It was the late game.
The dude had a lot of equity and eventually won 136k, but he didn't hedge anything. Several of us were in the sportsbook watching the games. WFT won, but didn't cover. It was the game Philly tanked. I asked him after the game why he didn't hedge anything using Philadelphia +6.5 mixed with some PH ML. I can't remember if he at least hedged the tie, which Circa offered, too.
He told me the only money he had was about enough to buy a burger and the gas to drive home to Los Angeles.
