Arte Moreno wants out.

Shopping Shohei Ohtani at the trade deadline now makes sense.

Sometimes you have to wait a week or two to put together the puzzle pieces.

No surprise. He was working in concert with our corrupt mayor getting inside info on the land deal including the stadium.

When the shit hit the fan and federal indictments (mayor, chamber of commerce) came, suddenly he wants out when the sweet heart deal was no longer on the table.

If Disney was smart they should try and swing a deal since they run Anaheim anyways. Perfect match for a Mickey Mouse operation.

Me thinks Moreno will be just fine:

Moreno purchased the Angels for $184 million in 2003. The franchise is now worth more than $2 billion, according to an estimate in Forbes.

Geoerge Steinbrenner paid $10.3 million for the Yankees in 1973 😲

Saudis can now stake their claim. Out bid the highest bidder by 1 Billion then what happens?

Saudis would by land in Irvine and build new stadium.

I'd love it. Disney is so busy trying to steep the populace in wokism, it'd be a welcome relief. Abu Dhabi turned Manchester City FC into a powerhouse, and without any silly political crap.

It all makes sense now why Moreno vetoed any and all trade offers for Ohtani.

You don't trade your best seat filler and expect to get top dollar.

Artie Moreno changes his mind.
Surprising almost everyone, including me, looks like he’s passing up $2 1/2 billion so he can stay on with the Angels organization.
🤷‍♂️

Many here at the OC are trying to figure out what happened. I read he had 5 potential buyers. As high as 3 billion. Then on a whim he decided to keep the team. He lost many fans here when he focused on L.A., trying to underscore Orange County and Anaheim.

He's a strange businessman, he spends millions on washed up players, yet refuses to put money into their minor leagues, some players shacking up with 5 guys in a one bedroom apartment.

Los Angeles Angels owner Arte Moreno said he dropped the idea of selling the Major League Baseball franchise and will maintain his role as owner for the upcoming 2023 season and beyond.

“During this process, it became clear that we have unfinished business and feel we can make a positive impact on the future of the team and the fan experience,” Moreno, 76, said in a statement. “This offseason we committed to a franchise record player payroll and still want to accomplish our goal of bringing a World Series Championship back to our fans.”
In August 2022, Moreno hired Galatioto Sports Partners to evaluate possible sale options for the team, which Sportico values at $2.11 billion.
“We are grateful to Galatioto Sports Partners for their outstanding efforts throughout the process that allowed us to meet with a number of highly qualified individuals and groups who expressed strong interest in the Club,” Moreno said. “However, as discussions advanced and began to crystallize, we realized our hearts remain with the Angels, and we are not ready to part ways with the fans, players, and our employees.”
Moreno has owned the Angels since 2003, when he purchased the team from Walt Disney Co. for around $180 million.

Don't be fooled by baseball's Frito Bandito. He wants the land around the stadium. The sweetheart deal fell thru when the FBI became involved and bribes were going back and forth. The land around the stadium is incredibly valuable. There's a possibility something is on the table again or there is talks of a new stadium.
