NLCS - St. Louis Cardinals vs. New York Mets

The St. Louis Cardinals beat the San Diego Padres in four games to advance to the NLCS for the third consecutive season where they'll now face the New York Mets, who won the season series over the Cardinals 4-2.

While St. Louis won the NL pennant in '04 before getting swept by the Boston Red Sox, the Cardinals lost last year's NL championship to Houston in six games. To get by the Mets and make it to the World Series this year the Cardinals need two things: Stellar pitching and Albert Pujols.

Pujols had 3 RBI's while scoring three times and had a homer against San Diego. It's vital Pujols stays hot at the plate in order to give the Cardinals a shot at the NLCS pennant. Pujols has 138 career AB's vs. Mets' pitching while hitting a solid .319.

The other key to victory comes from the mound led by ace Chris Carpenter. Against the Padres, Carpenter threw six innings of shutout, five-hit ball, in Game 4 leaving him at 2-0 with a 2.02 ERA in the series and 4-0 with a 2.10 ERA in five postseason starts. The reigning NL Cy Young winner probably won?t be available until Game 3 or 4 but when his turn comes it's crucial he has a winning performance for the Cardinals.

Coming into the playoffs without their ace pitcher and not having played a meaningful game in months, the Mets downed the wild card Los Angeles Dodgers in every facet of the game. In doing so, the Mets beat Derek Lowe, Brad Penny and Greg Maddux to dispose of the Dodgers in three straight games. The Mets bats produced 19 runs while their pitching gave up only 11 in the series.

Key to victory for the Mets comes from hitting. They hit just two dingers against the Dodgers, but the potent lineup posseses a lot of thunder, and to beat the Cardinals they'll need more production.

The Mets enter the series having won 7 consecutive games and they are an impressive 13-3 in their last 16 home games vs. a team with a winning record. As well, they are 3-0 against the Cardinals in the last three meetings and are 3-0 in the last 3 meetings in New York.

Notable game trends:

- Cardinals are 3-0 in their last 3 playoff road games.
- Cardinals are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. a team with a winning record.
- Cardinals are 5-2 in their last 7 overall.
- Cardinals are 16-35 in their last 51 games as a road dog of +151 to +200.

- Mets are 4-1 in their last 5 League Championship home games.
- Mets are 4-1 in their last 5 League Championship games.

Prediction - Mets win the series in 6 games.

Re: The Royal Post by BetRoyal.com

any current slow-pays at ROYAL being reported?
No disrespect to EOG, but I wouldn't touch this book with a 10 foot pole, or any other book Tej "THE JACKOFF" Kohli has a part of. I worked for him myself and know exactly how he operates. His position on payouts is, "do you really expect to get paid when send your deposit to a 3rd world country?" My apologies to the EOG for the negtive post about a sponsor, but these guys give gaming a bad name.
