we picked up a Nicolas Cage on the under last night.

as you know we got buried last week.

How much should we bet on tonight's game?

A package is already set aside for Breeders.

I think the odds of BC winning this game are better than the money line indicates.

Will I have the balls to bet a road dog on a Thursday Night? Probably not. But I think it is a smart bet.

NO. 13 BOSTON COLLEGE at NO. 3 VIRGINIA TECH

Virginia Tech (7-0 straight-up, 6-1 against the spread) puts its unbeaten record and 15-game regular-season winning streak on the line for the second consecutive Thursday night when it welcomes Boston College (6-1, 4-3 ATS) to Blacksburg for this prime-time showdown between Big East-turned-ACC rivals.

The Hokies are coming off a convincing 28-9 victory at Maryland, covering as 10?-point favorites despite committing four turnovers, including three interceptions by quarterback Marcus Vick (14-of-23 for 21 yards passing; 16 carries, 133 yards rushing). The offense rolled up a season-high 497 total yards (344 by Vick), while the defense limited the Terps to 254 yards and held them out of the end zone until 2:16 remained in the game.

Tech's four turnovers versus the Terps were surprising since the Hokies had coughed up the ball only twice in its first six games.

Boston College has had 12 days to prepare for this contest after surviving a scare against Wake Forest back on Oct. 15. The Eagles, who committed five turnovers and had a punt blocked, trailed 30-21 with 3? minutes to play, then rallied for two touchdowns in two minutes to pull out a 35-30 victory, failing to cover as 13?-point home favorites. Backup quarterback Matt Ryan (7 of 9, 134 yards) came off the bench to to throw the final two TD passes. Ryan replaced ineffective senior Quinton Porter (three INTs and fumble).

Boston College has won four consecutive games since a 28-17 home loss to Florida State, with three of those victories coming at home.

These teams last met in 2003 when both were in the Big East, and Boston College came away with a huge 34-27 upset in Blacksburg despite being 15?-point underdogs to a Virginia Tech squad then ranked 12th in the nation. The Eagles have covered four straight meetings despite being an underdog in each by an average of two touchdowns.

Since a season-opening four-point win at N.C. State, Virginia Tech has won six consecutive games by an average of 33 points. In addition, since the Wolfpack outgained them by 206 yards, the Hokies have had a total-yardage edge of at least 103 yards per contest.

Vick has been outstanding in his first full season as the Hokies' starting QB, completing 67 percent of his throws for an average of 179 yards per game (9.7 yards per attempt) with 10 TDs and five INTs. He's also contributed three TDs on the ground.

While much of the spotlight has shined on Vick and an offense that is averaging 37.7 points per game and has scored in 27 of 28 quarters, a lot of Virginia Tech's success can be attributed to its defense, which leads the nation in scoring defense (9.0 points per game) and ranks second to Miami (Fla.) in total defense (238.1 yards per game) and passing defense (238 ypg). No team has put up more than 17 points on Frank Beamer's team all season.

Boston College also features a stout defense that ranks sixth in scoring defense (14 ppg), seventh in total defense (274.4 ypg) and fourth in rushing defense (77.7 ypg). The Eagles have allowed just three rushing TDs all season, and tonight they face an offense that has rushed for 17 TDs.

BC senior defensive end, and Lombardi Award finalist, Mathias Kiwanuka, sidelined since suffering a knee sprain Oct. 8, returned to practice Monday but is expected to be a game-time decision.

Offensively, the Eagles are averaging 28.3 points and 423.4 yards per game. Quarterbacks Porter and Ryan have combined to average 225 passing yards per contest with nine TDs and eight INTs.

Virginia Tech has won 10 consecutive Thursday night games, covering the spread in all but one of them, and the Hokies are on ATS runs of 15-4 overall and 10-4 as a home favorite.

The Hokies are 3-0 SU (2-1 ATS) at home, while B.C. is 2-0 SU and ATS on the road. Going back to the 2003 season, the Eagles are 13-3 SU on the road, winning at such noted venues as V-Tech, Notre Dame, Penn State, Clemson and West Virginia. In addition, B.C. is 5-0 SU on the road against ranked teams going back to 2002.

Laying points against B.C. has been a money-burning proposition lately, as the Eagles are 5-0 SU and ATS as a road pup since 2003 and 6-1 SU and ATS in their last seven when catching points regardless of venue. The one defeat came at home this year against Florida State. On the negative side, Boston College is just 5-10 ATS after a bye.

The road team is on a 7-2-1 ATS run in this series.

The over has been the play in the last four meetings.

Virginia Tech has topped the posted price in four of its last five outings, including all three home games.

Boston College is the play tonight. I'm as sharp as a butter knife so don't miss out on this one.

Looking at the stats Va Tech is DOMINATING this game, but it could easilly be a 6 poitn game if BC puches it in instead of taking the short FG. But it looks like it should be Va Tech 41-6 or some shit, definately not 20-10.
