Man versus Vegas

Anyone see that show? It is on CMT, I watched the rerun of it today while I was flipping through channels. Pretty intersting.

No sports betting, just outright degenrate betting by this guy.

He supposedly lost 3 million back in the lat e90's and left Vegas almost broke. Now he is back after selling everythuing he owns, with a million in cash. The show him playing with people and sharing the winning after he places bets for them. then he goes solo, and the real fire works start.

He dropped 55K at Baccarat then won 60 or so back to end the first day up like 6K after giving a couple grand to people he met.

Second show he gave away about 5-6K to some hootie (with here boyfirend sitting there) and here pudgy friend. Then he lost 50+K at Black Jack, and he was totally lost.

They say what he bets really s his, and the way he looks I have to believe it.

But for al the degenrates out there, it is a good one to watch. I think it is on Friday nights, and not sure if reruns will be on Sundays or not. But is pretty enteratining even if it is a total put on.

I would like to see this, Guy. I will be looking for it in the future and hopefully CMT will repeat the show.

I can barely stand to watch this. He should just flush his money down a toilet, it would waste less time, and be more novel.

Ya I forgot to mention the aim of all this. He wants to turn the 1 million he has into 4 million (winning back the 3 he lost).

He is a sound bettor. he knows the odds in BJ he did DD on a questionable spot, but he was on a roll, and took his shot, that is where the worm turned and he pissed it away.

I am POSITIVE they WILL have a sportsbetting episode in there somewhere.

The guy has played Baccarat, BJ, Craps, and roullette. He made money on all but BJ(ironically the easiest game to beat), so I have to think that sports is right around the corner.

There have only been 2 episodes, so it is early in the series.

I think it is as much about the people he meets, and the "feel good" aspect of his charity, as it is about the underlying story.

Wife had this on last night and I watched about 10 minutes of it. It seems like it is presented as a reality show but I believe that it's scripted. I noticed that it was shot at the Plaza in Vegas. The players that the gambler encounters appear to have been staged.

I really don't understand the premise of the show... No way he turns one million into 3 million by giving away money to strangers and then gambling somewhat recklessly.

Obviously they have to set it up somehow. He probably runs around off camera and meets people then they set it up in a private room somewhere. The logistics of it are a nightmare to simply walk around with a camera running in a casino. They frown on that.

He was at Alladin the last couple night. I am sureifthe show takes off he will get a few kick backs and freebies form the otherplaces t highlight their places. I am not sure how good Alladin will look after he got his ass handed to him there. it is actually in their better interest to have the guy win a few bucks there.

CMT site says:

Armed with $1 million of his own money, an eccentric high roller will seek revenge on Las Vegas and attempt to win back the $3 million that he lost there in the late 1990s.

Daren had it all -- home, family, career, cars and $3million in the bank -- before he gambled it away. As he seeks to settle an old score with the city that once nearly bankrupted him, we will see what it means to be a true Vegas "Whale" through the eyes of an ordinary tourist. He is more than a man with a mission -- he is a man with heart. After selling most of his assets, Daren hits the tables of Vegas armed with $1 million of his own money and steely determination. Daren becomes a sort of Vegas Robin Hood, winning money for the weekend tourists who were playing next to him, tipping struggling cocktail waitresses thousands of dollars, buying cars for complete strangers and just plain giving money away. "I'm doing this for anyone who's ever lost," says Daren, who lives his credo of "go big or go home." Regardless of whether he redeems himself or falls victim to Vegas again, Daren changes the lives of everyone he meets.

Daren is the magnetic lead character in the new CMT series, Man vs. Vegas. He takes on Sin City armed with $1 million of his own money, every cent he has to his name, to get revenge on the town that almost destroyed him in the late 1990s. While on his mission to regain his lost fortune, Daren recruits regular folks to play high stakes games with him in hopes that their good karma leads to winnings for all involved. Since he believes that he is taking on Vegas for everyone who has ever lost there, Daren feels he must bring people along for the ride. Whether he meets them in the elevator, spies them in line for a cab or just wanders up to their table, everyday people are taken on a wild ride with this modern day Robin Hood as he pushes them beyond their normal gambling limits.
Daren was born and raised to the age of 13 in the small mid-western town of Windom, Minn., where his early childhood was marked by tragedy. When Daren was 10 years old, his father was severely injured in a car racing accident. His father was in and out of the hospital and Veteran's home for the next eight years. His father had severe brain damage and through years of massive rehabilitation, overcame the odds and fought back to lead a productive life, becoming Daren's hero in the process. The experience taught Daren the value of perseverance and faith. With his family's approval, Daren left Minnesota at the age of 14 and moved to California where his uncle soon took him under his wing as an assistant at his venture capital firm. Daren worked his way up, got his broker's license at 19 and eventually became a venture capitalist himself. After a successful run of raising money for various start-up companies, Daren had achieved the American dream. At the age of 25, Daren was married with two children and enjoyed all the trappings of wealth -- the mansion, the fancy cars, jet-setting toys and plenty of cash. That's when Daren met Las Vegas for the first time.

Daren took his family to Las Vegas to celebrate a birthday and on the first night turned $2,000 into $180,000. He became hooked on the adrenaline rush that the town offered and found that he had no limits when on the tables. But the glitz of Las Vegas clouded too many nights and the losing consumed him before he knew what had hit. At the turn of the millennium, when the dot-com bubble burst on most of his investments, Daren's luck ran out at the tables too. He lost his hard-earned money, his house, the cars and the other toys. Even his marriage eventually fell apart.

Man vs. Vegas is Daren's story of redemption against the town that drove him to the brink of disaster. He's sold everything he owns to put together his last $1 million in cash. That's the ammunition Daren needs to take on Las Vegas, one game at a time -- until he wins back all his money or loses everything he has left trying. All along the way, Daren gambles with anyone and everyone that he feels can bring good luck to his mission. Some of these people win life-changing amounts of money on the turn of a card and some just share in the experience of betting like a real high roller at least once in their lives.

About 7-8 years ago I was a CMT freak,I remember having it on the TV and betting at Betonsports(ya I know) but they were decent back them, plus there weren't too many around, also had Canbet then.

Also remember looking at Wagertalk and the other sports boards that were popping up.

But I am not into it all that much these days, probably had more to do with Shania than the music, not sure.

I just happened to see Vegas, and decided to check it out. I expcetec it to be a copplete joke (like that Nugget one was) but this one was a little more "realistic".

I am sure there is a write up about it soemwhere I jsut haven't looked.
