"Down 16" is not a two-score game

Of course not, but moving back the xp try sure made and still makes things interesting.

Tonight McCarthy going for a fg down 16 was almost as dumb as Matt Lafleur kicking it down a TD late and handing the ball back to Brady last season.

Down 16, you have to have the mentality it's 3 possessions. Turns out to be 2, bonus whore. Also, don't listen to these moran announcers. If you are down 15 or 18, you go for 2. You want an outcome early so you know what you really need at the end.

Also, partly because of the longer XP, unless there are special needs circumstances, go 2 and the win instead of OT. If you go down, at least you have a look. No guarantee any look in OT. Miss the XP, it becomes a sick badbeat.

People fail to recognize the information edge you gain when you get an early outcome, say late in the third quarter or early in the fourth.

Who ever said it was?

You'd need at least 3 scores to get ahead having a 16 point deficit, including at least 2 TDs. Three scores won't get you even.

Being "down 16" is often called a "two possession game". Assuming pick 6's + the ensuing 2 point conversion attempt count as a single possession.

It was less dumb than him punting down 16 on 4th and 1.5 late in the 3q.
