LAST I HEARD FROM HIM WAS ABOUT THREE YEARS AGO, HE WAS LIVING IN FLORIDA..... I KNOW I WILL GET RIPPED FOR THIS, BUT MARK WAS A PRETTY GOOD GUY, JUST A TERRIBLE BOOKMAKER........AND IF MEMORY SERVES ME CORRECTLY SPIRO BAILED OUT MOST OF THE PLAYERS THAT GOT STIFFED.......

I'll get ripped along with you but I knew Mark before Camelot and I always thought both he and his dad were super guys. I always enjoyed talking to his dad who had been a sports gambler for years and would tell bad beat stories from back in the early 60's.

I THINK MARK WAS OF THE IMPRESSION THAT YOU OPEN A BOOK AND YOU AUTOMATICLY HAD A MONEY TREE.....LOTS OF GUYS MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE....IT ISN'T AN EASY BUSINESS.......AND TO BE ONLY POSTUP IS EVEN HARDER AS THE COSTS TO ACQUIRE CUSTOMERS IS ASTRONOMICAL.....

I don't doubt that I was talking with JoeDel regularly in the year before the book opened and I think he was of that opinion. Being so caught up in the handicapping side of things their whole lives I really don't think they had a clue about how scalpers and middlers can transfer high amounts of risk to a sportsbook.
