OSU COWBOYS
EOG Dedicated
Do with it what you will as I have been ice cold with what I post here at EOG. The ORU-Sam Houston St game goes at 12 Eastern. I have an extremely strong opinion on this game.
Senior guard Corey Allmond is having a great start to the year, shooting nearly 47% from 3pt land. The Bearkats have hit 41 3's in their first 4 games.
Senior guard Ashton Mitchell also returns for a team that won the Southland Conference's West Division title last year and is favored to do so again. Allmond and Mitchell were all-Southland preseason selections.
Allmond and Mitchell will be facing a decimated guard line up in the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles. Junior point guard Roderick Pearson will miss todays game with a knee injury. This leaves ORU with a true freshman, Warren Niles, to start at the point. He will be backed up by Ken Holdman, who has not played the point guard position since his Sophomore year in high school. This does not bode well for the Golden Eagles.
You have 2 All Conference Senior guards squaring off against a lightly recruited true Freshman and a Sophomore guard who hasnt played that position for 3 years, and had never played it at the D1 level. This is a complete mismatch teams like SHSU dream of.
The line is SHSU -1 currently. I think it closes higher and I also think it should be closer to -7 with the huge disparity at both guard positions.
My play.....
Sam Houston -1 ORU
Sam Houston 67
ORU 60
