What's your favorite one line lyric in music history.

Flamingo kid

Everybody's hands go UP!
For example, you might want to quote something from Don McLean's American Pie

"Drove my Chevy to the Levy but the Levy was dry"

Any other one line lyric that stands out to you as 'great'? Or, a lyric that has special meaning to you in some way?

"That he not busy being born, Is busy dying."

Bob Dylan from It's Alright Ma, I'm Only Bleeding... I could quote the whole song actually

Lol I was gonna give you several, but then I noticed you specified one line...

I was originally going to start a topic that said i want the GREATEST line in music history, but favorite line is more interesting to me.

Or can be a verse?

Re: What's your favorite one line lyric in music history.

Okay, this is a lil bit long... but here are some lyrics and verses by myself and others that I cherish:

"And I don't care if you don't love me
And I don't care if you won't change
I could live inside these shadows that I cast on you
If it meant that you would stay"

from Miss America by Something Corporate... connected to this during a breakup. it's funny how you wanna be friends with that person but never do, yet there's a longing for them still.. a powerful emotion i think..

"It's always you
In my big dreams"

from Konstantine by Something Corporate... i could multiquote this for ya and pick apart why each line is important, but this part is in the beginning and makes you feel the emotion of the song from the onset

Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?

from bob dylan, Blowin' in the Wind

Do you remember what I said,
While he's sleeping in your bed?

from Something Corporate, If I Die, that line is nice because it puts it in perspective that the girlie has moved on... I've had girlies tell me that line made them feel like a slut (yes, i'd communicate with ex's later on and show them songs i thought of them after lol)

"The hand that feeds you needs you" from Deny by Default... song is amazing and that line is a truthful statement..

"Maybe I'm Crazy but Lightning might strike me tonite"

the end of Ben Franklin's Kite by Something Corporate... the beginning of the song is scary kinda because it starts out with "Give me an answer why this Cancer eats me away" and then years later he got leukemia

"The Stars are bright tonight
And I am walking nowhere

I guess I will be alright
Desire gets you nowhere"

the beginning of Stars by The Cranberries... it takes more than Desire to get/achieve anything

"What stood to stand out
I choose to hand out to you
Where now I lose out on you
because this wasn't planned out
but hey, atleast you can never say
I ran out on you
But now, I'm out of love
because I ran out of you"

to end a breakup song called Out of Love that I wrote

"No matter how many times
You walk away
You still have to stand"

wrote a song called Crutches, based on how people use things as crutches to help them get over people and stuff, and well, i've always liked that line above

"What you cannot deny is,
What you respect"

from a song called What You Respect i wrote and that line ends it... truthful i'd say

"But then someday comes tomorrow holds a sense of what I fear for you in my mind"

from Far Behind from Candlebox

"We all want something beautiful"

in Mr Jones by Counting Crows

"Put a candle in the window"
in Long As I Can See the Light by CCR

when drinking i like to take a shot or big drink as he is singing that part lol

"All that shimmers in this world is sure to fade...
Away...again"

from Fuel in the song Shimmer

"Cause nothin' lasts forever
And we both know hearts can change
And it's hard to hold a candle
In the cold November rain"

from Guns N' Roses in November Rain

Leave it up to me while I be living proof
To kick the truth to the young black youth
But shorty's running wild smokin sess drinkin beer

There are no words that can express how I feel
You never kept a secret, always stayed real
And I appreciate, how you raised me
And all the extra love that you gave me
I wish I could take the pain away
If you can make it through the night there's a brighter day
Everything will be alright if ya hold on
It's a struggle everyday, gotta roll on
And there's no way I can pay you back
But my plan is to show you that I understand
You are appreciated
