Fly: Iverson banned from Detroit casinos
April 14, 2009
Caught on the Fly
Hey, didn't you used to be an NBA coach?
Apparently Allen Iverson is as big a baby when he loses at casinos as he is when he loses playing time. Despite his contributions to the Detroit casino economy, Iverson has been banned from the MGM and Greektown casinos in Detroit for bad behavior, including throwing chips and cards at dealers when he loses. Spies say he loses a lot.
Fly's starting to wonder about how bright Jay Cutler is. A Chicago sports talk radio station reported that Cutler reached out to recently released WR Plaxico Burress about his possible interest in playing for the Bears. No mention of how the Bears' front office might feel about that. Cutler's also already making the gossip pages for his outings in his new city, as he was spotted on Saturday "canoodling with Internet celebrity Julia Allison."
Sounds like the Nationals might get rid of one problem in their locker room by sending Lastings Milledge to the minors. Apparently the 24-year-old center fielder doesn't show up at the park on time, can't get decent jumps on balls hit his way and seems not to understand that as leadoff man, his job is to get on base.
Notre Dame might be looking under a new rock to find some spark for its offense. Redshirt freshman John Goodman joined the Irish as a receiver, but on Wednesday he will audition for the No. 3 QB spot. Goodman made a similar move in high school, shifting from wideout to QB as a senior, when he led the team to an undefeated regular season. Undefeated. That's sure to intrigue Irish fans. You're not truly a workout warrior until you train on fire trails with the Cal rugby team. Says Chronicle scribe John Crumpacker, "A few breakfasts are lost as the young men gasp and heave themselves across a line scratched in the damp earth. ... First or last, it's a lung-busting, lactic acid build-up." Hey, maybe the Bears football team should toughen up by working out with the rugby squad -- after all, the rugby team has won five national titles in a row and 24 of the last 29.

Re: Iverson banned from Detroit casinos

True story right here:

When we were in Detroit two weeks ago my friends saw AI at the Motor City Casino stumbling around drunk as hell. We didn't know he had just been placed on IR. We sat down the next day at the bar and the bartender told us a story. She said AI always comes in and makes them rope off his own table. Not in the VIP room but in the main area so everyone can see him. Well, he played all night one night and then came back the next day. He looked at the dealer and said "good, I don't want to see that cross-eyed knappy-headed dealer I had last night."

Yes, you guessed it. It was the same dealer from the previous night. These were the words straight from the bartender's mouth.

Casinos can't beat a point into his head, so the solution is to ban him.
