Ok guys here is your weekly report from Almost Allright
Minn-Gophers much improved defensively. 4 common opponets from 07....BG, Indy OSU, and FAU scored 136 points vs minny only 61 this year. also attributed to the offense taking care of the ball. On the injury front QB Weber has a bone bruise in his right knee but will play....startin CB Sherels is OUT with a seperated shoulder. OT alford is questionable
UCLA-C Reed took reps today (Wed) but still questionable Lb Bosworth out and backup Edwards will be limited with a sore foot. Other than Wash St....Ucla D has been porous this year. 2 Lb's dinged up won't help. WR Everett still questionable as well. RB Carter groin did not practice today and it looks as if Bell and Dean will share RB duties
MIAMI-O-Northern Illinois and Miami are the MAC's top two ranked defensive teams. LB Bostic and free safety Gafford out last week questionable this week
WASH ST-Redshirt junior QB Lopina back to practice since injury versus portland St. No contact just throwing probably for two more weeks. Back up RB ivory is out, ol Ayers did not practice due to a sore neck and is questionable CB's Justin and Dawes both expected to play. The Cougars held a campus wide tryout for QB of the scout team. lmfao
C MICH-first team MAC wideout dnp last week and is questionable versus temple. His backup caught one pass last week.
SD ST-QB Lindley day to day and a game time decision on a sperated shoulder on throwing arm. SD State has lost 4 players to injury for the season and has another 10 players out for sometime. Very banged up. Coaching staff frustrated and practice quality has suffered.
SYR-no key injuries. no news of note.
AKRON- nothing of note. RB Johnson Doubtful with a neck injury
IND-Starting LB patterson will play. Staff pleased with Defensive effort just need to get better on 3rd down. Not the same on the offensive side. O is lacking consitency and is a major emphasis in practice. not where they expect ot be after 5 games.
W MICH-healthy......expecting a battle due to the fact both teams are very similar in style. need to get off to a quicker start offensively
ARK- hogs banged up big time at CB starter Love and backup Norton are both out as is starting DT Mitchell. On O lots of changes last week that will carry over on the line. starter Love is still out, backup Aguirre who won a start in place of dominguez is out. Dominguez is back after missing lastweek due to a family illness. Dominguez will battle with true freshman Freeman for a spot.
ULM-QB lancaster left last game with concussion but will play Saturday. Down to 3rd string DE. Gave up over 700 yards of offense versus ULL. Defense talking about pride and effort, coaching staff points to poor tackling and blown assignments. ULM now 1-4 2nd year in a row. finished 5-2 ly
MICH ST- healthy... all 3 spartans dinged last week will start....javon ringer will be replaced on KO returns by freshman Winston. Lessing the load is the reason
VANDY-Nickson probable but may not start. Vandy 10 th in sec in total D 12 in total O. staff attributes all the little things, no penalties, winning to margin, effective red zone o and d and outscoring last three opponets 30-0 in second half.
PURDUE-no new injuries....even with painters struggles at qb which tiller attributes to trying too hard Purdue is first in passing in the big 10. but an anemic running game leaves them 7th overall. Defense ranks near the bottom in every category. being steamed rolled on the ground of major concern versus osu.
TENN-coaching staff irritated with inconsistent play of o line. on top of it all 2 reserve o line men have been suspended, one who has played in all 5 games. Tenn imo is at either a rally the troops or we quit point,
TOLDEO-starting C Garrett is uncertain for saturday. After two loses at home the team had a cookout and movie to try and alleviate some of the stress and frustration that is mounting. there as been some seperation between the o and d units.
MW MEX-starting rb questionable with bruised shoulder....game plan is to try and run and run a lot versus byu. if they have to throw which i think they will, New Mx has struggled in the passing game.
ULL-starting lb fleming is out with a knee injury, which comes on week after starting lb burkhalter was suspended for the year....thin at lb. Recent success attributed to a senior dominated O line that is playing very well
S.CARO-healthy Spurrier looking to ramp up the running game with some misdirection. For example not one reverse this year. defense licking their chops to get after kentucky's injury riddled o line.
NEVADA- one of the comittee RB's Fragger will bbe limited due to a bruised shoulder. QB Kaeprnick on a nice roll... last 2 games 30-40 419 yards no int and 4 td's and 239 yards rushing and 4 more td's young secondary continues to improve and will need to play well versus pass happy new mex st. special team kick off coverage put in extra practice time after allowing 3 returns by idaho past the forty.
