From the mid-70's, til the late 90's, the trio from Texas had many hits on the pop and rock charts, and are recognized by their long beards, and infectious beats.....

The peak of their popularity in the mid 80's, was synonymous with their videos, which featured the cherry-red Ford Coupe hot rod, that was named "Eliminator", also the name of their biggest album, and the girls that would always climb out of the car, to help those in need...that became the basis of many of their videos, and they were hugely successful...

ZZ top has scored 24 top 40 hits on the Rock charts, 11 of them reaching the top 10, and 9 of those reached the top 40 pop chart....

The band is still touring, and a new album is in the works.....


ZZ top was also noted for the "risque" titles to alot of their songs, including "Tube Snake Boogie" "Tush", "Pearl Necklace", "Fuzzbox Voodoo" "Woke up with Wood" and others...


on a side note, in 1984, Gillette offered Hill and Gibbons $1 million each to shave their beards for a commercial (big money back then) but they declined, stating they were "too ugly" without them...:LMAO

#8....In the early 90's, ZZ Top took on Elvis, and scored a big hit, with their remake of Viva, Las Vegas....was a very good video as well

#6....ZZ Top follwed up a string of hits, with a turn on the ballad side, and scored big with "Rough Boy"....a sure departure from their normal style....but it worked..

#1....was an easy choice for me, as its one of my favorite songs of all time, along with my favorite ZZ Top song, and favorite video of theirs as well...it was their biggest pop chart hit, reaching the top 10, and reaching #1 on the rock charts....This song IS ZZ TOP TO ME........Enjoy..!!

tres hombres in '73 and eliminator in '83 were the two best albums they had.zz top put out some amazing videos for eliminator that exploded their popularity all over again....

Actually going to see ZZ Top Sunday in Little Rock. They are performing at River Fest. Just got back from Huey Lewis and the News and Sawyer Brown. Good stuff. And the whole weekend is only $10. Others performing include
Chaka Khan, Arrested Development, Robert Earl Keen, .38 Special and One Republic.
