For example, a 3 team parlay paid 5:1 (really 4:1) because I collected the money first and handed them back 5 if they had originally bet 1 dollar, lol...

ncaa tourney pools in high school. didn't actually bet with bookmaker until freshman year in college.

I probably beat most(if not all) of you here. I placed my first bets around 6 years old. It's a Chinese tradition that kids get red packets filled with money during Chinese New Year and gambling during the New Year is also part of the tradition. So I was playing blackjack for money at age 6 with the $ I got for New Year! :+textinb3

A friend told me he took bets so I made some, he used lines in the paper. He later quit taking bets . I think 2 weeks worth.

Placed my first bet at 21

Always wanted to go to Vegas, so when I turned 21 I went to the bookstore to get info on how everything works when you go into a casino/sportsbook.

Wanted to find a good deal on a room, heard about comps and stuff like that, so I wanted to vacation there as cheaply as I could

Well, thumbing thru magazines, starting seeing ads for online sportsbooks. Read up on them, send some money off to Bowman's and have NEVER MADE IT TO VEGAS TO THIS DAY :smoke

Steelers-Viking Super Bowl, couple dollars...the kids name was Cooper, and I had my Steelers, didnt know what a spread was I dont think.

We use to bowl for money in our saturday bowling league, from there matching our lunch money and in fifth grade pitching baseball cards which was really gambling and ruining the cards at the same time as we destroyed the corners on them.

My dad would let me make $5.50 bets when I was 9 or 10. His belief was that by getting a small taste of losing when I was a kid would be enough to give me a bad taste about gambling and hopefully kill my desires to gamble as I grew up. Boy did he drop the ball on that one.

Started playing poker in high school. I think I had my first local at 18.

started gambling on the golf course when i was 10. stepped up to playing 2cent a point gin when i was 12. have been the best gin player in town at my age since 15. gin payed for my first 2 cars and huge downpayment on my house. books get me every time though

I still remember making $20 bets on Sportsbook.com -- almost always on a team like the Cubs so that I could watch it on WGN :)

I sold football cards in High School (remember those 4 teams for a buck wins you 10). I did pretty good up to 700 or 800 at the peak. Forget my first bet but lost to the man several times. It sucked.

I started Pitching Quarters and playing Odd/Even in 5th Grade.... Started Gambling on Baskets and Foots when I was 16 for $20 a game with my Buds....

yes, i bet on the eagles to cover -4.5 points for the opening game of the season the year before they went to teh super bowl.

i remember it was better than sex at the time. Freshman year in college and it was for 100$ that was given to me without doing any work it was great.

First legit bet was Pittsburgh-Dallas SB XIII, the infamous Black Sunday. Took the Steelers -4, and watched them blow an 18-point lead in the last 2-1/2 minutes. The push was slightly deflating, but I managed to rally and make it a full-time habit by the following season. I was 20 years old at the time. Used to play the parlay cards much earlier than that, but I don't consider that real gambling, since I think my dad put the $1 up for me.
