Plaxico Burress - WR - Giants

Plaxico Burress (ankle) missed practice Friday, as expected.
Make sure Sunday morning when the inactives come out, but Plax should start against the 49ers. He's scored in all six games he's played in this year. Oct. 19 - 12:32 p.m. ET

Burress went through all the Giants' individual work as well. The bye week allowed him to rest his ankle and get it treated to the point where Plax was cleared to go through some 11-on-11s. He'll likely still be limited all week.

"It doesn't feel good right now, that's for sure," Plax answered when asked if the tweak was minor or major. Burress said the ankle feels the worst it has all year: "I don't really think it is going to get better." It seemed promising when he did some drills in practice Wednesday, but apparently that didn't help. Plax did say he doesn't plan on sitting out of any games.

The Giants' local papers usually expect Burress to play on Sundays despite sitting out practice during the week, but that's changed now due to the added knee ailment. Plax was taken to the city Wednesday to have the injuries looked at by doctors. At best, it appears he'll be a game-day decision against the Bears, as there's virtually no chance of him practicing this week.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin said during the week that Burress' situation isn't different from any other week despite his added knee ailment. The Bears-Giants game starts at 4:15 ET, but news that he's likely to play makes Plax worth waiting for if you don't have similarly elite options at wideout.

This is first time all year his chances of playing in a game are better than "questionable." After getting in some practice this week, Plax should be as healthy as he's been all year for Saturday's tilt with the Patriots. It's anyone's guess how long he'll play in the game.
