Craps: dice setting

Does anyone have extensive experience with setting and influencing the dice outcome in craps? Seems tough to do.

KINOSH, YOU CAN WATCH THE GUYS SET THE DICE A CERTAIN WAY ALL DAY LONG.......MOST OF THOSE GUYS HAVE HOLES IN THEIR POCKETS.....

DICE ARE VERY STUPID AND HAVE SHARP SQUARE EDGES.....THEY BOUNCE, THEY JUMP AND UNLESS YOU CAN PUT GLUE ON THEM....YOU WILL NEVER KNOW THE OUTCOME.......

DO YOU THINK CASINOS ARE GETTING BIGGER AND BIGGER BECAUSE GUYS CAN MANIPULATE THE DICE?

Re: Craps: dice setting

If there is such a thing as 'controlled dice setting,' it would take years of practice just like card counting. If you could decrease the probability of the 7 coming up from 1-in-6 to 1-in-8, you could approach positive EV. I doubt this will break the casino, but given that the casinos allow their patrons to throw the dice, I just wonder if anyone has tried exploiting it.

If you are really interested in learning all the pros & cons of the concept, surf onto rec.gambling.craps. There must be well over 100 threads with maybe 10k articles covering the waterfront there.

dice can be manipulated. but you will get tossed from the casino if you're caught and forever barred.

Can you give me some links or names of people that have been barred for 'setting' dice?

Thanks,

Re: Craps: dice setting

Dice setting has been interesting to read about and there have been a couple of documentaries on TV about it also. Have always wanted to try taking this up just to see what kind of results happen. Frank Schoblete seemed to be a pretty big expert on the subject and even conducts his "Golden Touch" classes on it which are available.

Re: Craps: dice setting

I read that article and am LMAO "they call me sharpshooter" wtf. The bullshit people will fall for. Best roll I EVER had i was grabbing them dice and bouncing them down the table at a rapid pace. The dice were bouncing off chips, dealers, and the back wall. There just comes a time when 7 does not come up. Sharpshooter :LMAO :LMAO :LMAO :LMAO

Re: Craps: dice setting

I read that Sharpshooter article too. That's total B.S. There is no way anyone can have such precise dice control to actually call their number. No way. The best you can hope for is altering the distribution away from random.

I have seen it been done in a live casino setting, exactly in the manner you mention here. The shooter's aim was just to control one of the two dice in a way which increased his chances. The key is the ability to make one die a "1" or a "6". I'll leave you all to think about the implications if you could do this most of the time you so desired.

I wasn't really let onto the details behind the "team" and I never saw this shooter again, but was just told to show up and watch him do his thing. He probably got what he wanted out of the one die about 75-80% of the time. No gimmicks like sliding the dice, he literally spun the one die in a special way and almost exactly hit the same spot on the other side of the table. The second die was essentially random and I suspect helped cover up the truth.

Why do you think they have those diamond like points hanging on the rubber?

If maybe you are talking about illegal rolls that don't hit a backboard....maybe a possibility

Anyone who thinks the dice can be manipulated is dead wrong.

Toss in all the chips that are on the table and it makes it even more unlikely.

FYI, the one dice he was trying to control hit a point just below the points on the back wall. It hit the part of the wall just above the felt that is flat and angled upwards. Controlling the dice is about making an absolute pinpoint throw to a certain spot. It isn't about how you set them or how you toss, but if you can hit the same precise spot over and over. Lets face it 99.999% of us could never do that, but then again the same percentage could never be a top marksman with a rifle either.

Re: Craps: dice setting

You have to be smooth picking up the dice and not diddle with the pre set. I did ok for a while at the riverboat and then the mutts would not let me throw them any higher than the table or I would be ejected!

That show on A & E was excellent. The guy from New Jersey had a table in his garage and spent whole weekends practicing. I think the author of the book was Frank Scoblete and these two guys hooked up and did quite well. The book is a good read. I can find the title if you need it or can't find it at Amazon.

BILL, WHAT DOES HITTING A SPOT HAVE TO DO WITH IT? ARE YOU TELLING ME THIS GUY COULD TOSS A DI 12-15 FEET AND IT LANDED FLAT AND DIDN'T TURN OVER?

Start setting the dice and roll a few numbers and see what happens. If controlling the dice were not possible then why are the casino's so afraid.

How many people could hit a target with a rifle from half-mile away? Very few, but they exist. Same thing with this Devil. Its all about precision and repetition. Like I said I knew exactly what to look for and the guy still didn't do it perfect 100%, but he was easily close enough to skew the odds drastically into his (and his partners) favor. Just think about it, if you have rolled an 8 on the come out and then could even one third of the time make a 4 come up on one of the dice instead of the expected 1 out of 6, how much money could you make off of that? That is the principle of dice setting, not the idea that a guy could be asked to roll a 10 on demand and then do it every time.

<HR style="COLOR: #2b295e" SIZE=1>I think the dice could be set if you were rolling them right in front of you. On a craps table though? highly unlikely. This link shows a guy setting the dice, but he's also not throwing them across the table. could be BS, but still fun to watch

This guy might have gotten banned from Vegas but it wasn't for setting dice.

Re: Craps: dice setting

HaVING DEALT DICE FOR OVER 10 YEARS PREVIOUSLY,

I can't say that I knew of 1 player that cashed out regularly. If I did I'd take his strategy and never work again.

I can say that dice can be manipulated ever so slightly on a 1 roll basis only where you wouldn't hit the backwall and slide/glide them. You may be able to get away this once or twice an hour. Even then the player mmay only get one dice to get a better chance at landing on what he wanted.

Maybe to the point he had a better than a 1 in 6 chance at getting a desired number.

HELL I've even tried this in reverse and tried all the jinxes to GET a 7 to roll when on the don'ts, no luck either. I can chant 7 etc. and a hard 4 winner will roll.
