Re: HIT SONGS FROM WHEN YOU WERE A KID!!

Saw these guys in Concert at a rock festival in the early 2k's at Lakewood Amphitheater here in ATL ... They are very good in Concert...Not a big fan at Poison's time... Brett Michaels told a story about how every song was written... He tells about some Vietnam Vets and their struggles...and as soon as the song was playing the wind started Howling and it started thundering and you could see dark clouds rolling in... They were the last act and it was about midnight... Sent chills down my spine... it was like it was scripted to happen.....

I can honestly say that Poison is one of the best Concerts I have ever seen.... They put on a show...and sounded great...

One hell of a show...Quiet Riot, Ratt, Warrant, Tesla, Great White, Poison, and a few more... great damn huge party...took ya back to the 80's

Poison is a very underrated band... and CC Deville can play the Guitar with the best of them

Re: HIT SONGS FROM WHEN YOU WERE A KID!!

This topic makes me think of sitting in the dirt in Harry's backyard on a sunny Summer afternoon, listening to early 70's top-30 radio.

Bucky brought up the Guess Who. They had a lot of hits when I was a kid that I never started appreciating until I got older. No Sugar Tonight. Share the Land. American Woman. Undun. Many more.

Like most young Canadian guitar players, I was a Gordon Lightfoot fan. If You Could Read My Mind, Sundown, Don Quixote.

Other strong memories of those times (some I like, some not so much)

Joy to the World - Three Dog Night (I like)
Seasons in the Sun - Terry Jacks (one of the strange-worst songs of all time)
Afternoon Delight - Starland Vocal Band (yikes. Don't know why I had to think of that.)
I am Woman - Helen Reddy (these memories are out of control)
Sweet Hitchhiker - CCR (thumbs up)
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John (like)
Brown Sugar - Rolling Stones (good)

I could go on and on. Strong memories of those a.m. radio days.

Oh how i can relate as my favorite year in music was 1972...

I recall Without You by Harry Niilson and Alone Again Naturally by Gilbert O Sullivan being the top 2 songs back then...

Others that come to mind from that time of my life earlier and later include:

1- Dizzy

2- Sugar Sugar

3- Me and Mrs Jones

4- Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ol Oak Tree

5- Delta Dawn

6- Honesty

7- Knock 3 Times

8- I've Got you Babe

9- How Can You Mend a Broken Heart

10- I've Got a Name

Re: HIT SONGS FROM WHEN YOU WERE A KID!!

my juinor year of HS from Jan-April 1981 the MOST BEAUTIFUL girl in the school was in my P.E. Class. she never wore the proper uniform we had to wear choosing to wear Dolfin shorts and a Tank Top - and the instructor NEVER said a word of objection. we started EVERY class with Jumping Jacks in a HUGE circle - so we waited for her to take her spot in the circle then run to the other side to see "Gravity take Effect" if you know what i mean. she disappeared in April 1981 because she got kicked out of school for bad grades

fast forward about 3 years later to February 1984 when i open up the March 1984 Playboy issue and WHO is that month's Playmate? Dona Speir! The SAME Dona Speir who was in my P.E. Class in 1981

so for me the one song that stands out came out in 1982 and i think we all know what is is

J Geils Band - Centerfold

What do you want to do with your life?
What is that? A Twisted Sister pin? On your uniform?

Re: HIT SONGS FROM WHEN YOU WERE A KID!!

My XM radio flips between 70's and 80's. On those 2 75%+ of the time. I'm still a kid.
