It is everywhere and every day and no one is really safe.
Chelsea Porter has been identified as the 14-year-old girl who was killed in a North Mapleton Street apartment early this morning.
Her death has been ruled a homicide. She was fatally stabbed, police said.
Police Department officers were called to the 400 block of North Mapleton Street shortly after 3 a.m.
The girl did not live at the apartment. A family friend, who lived two doors away from the apartment, said Porter was staying with a family friend when she was killed.
Christy Hibbs said she used to live near the girl and her family.
"She'd come over, play with my kids, spend the night at my house," Hibbs said.
Porter had been living in Alabama for the past year but had returned for a family member's funeral.
"This was a 14-year-old kid. She hasn't even lived her life yet," Hibbs said. "She was a good girl."
