Lawrence's lawyer outstanding

Somehow, a guy facing 30 years managed a plea that included the return of his passport. Sure he'll forfeit some property kept in the US (Mostly used for bail), but there are about 100 countries that won't extradite for conspiracy to promote gambling.

This guy basically got this guy off completely.

He'll either come back and feed the feds info in a prearranged deal for no jail, or he'll never reenter this crappy ass country.

This just about shows the DOJ knew it had nearly no chance of winning. I've never heard of a guy facing 30 years being given back his passport when his new charge is legal throughout the world. Have any of you?

if you need some help packing your bags let me know.

Relax, people have the right to have their own opinions. Don't be a knucklehead when the truth is simple. Our country is not the same ever since Bush became the president. Just because you are one of the few that are related to Bush doesn't mean everyone gets the same treatment as you. Cut yoru mullet, get rid of your Confederate flag, and live in the modern times buddy. :sad

if you agree why don't you join him. You have probably never served your country and are some fuckin @@@@@ sitting around complaining all the time. You have no idea how lucky you have it here. Shut the hell up, stop bitching, and go live someplace else if it is so bad. Or get off you ass and try and make a difference. End of that story chicken shit.

When I say the country is going downhill, I am looking at about 100 things other than gambling.

Sure, they have tried to shit on our rights to gamble, but since Bush has entered office:

The constitution has lost all meaning.
The right to privacy has lost all meaning.
We let 19 known terrorists board planes at the exact same time.
It now takes an hour to get through airport security and even longer at customs
Healthcare is a disaster and there are going to only be dumb doctors in 30 years if it doesn't change.
Litigation is an absolute mess.
Ports are still not secure.
WE spend $500,000,000 each day policing Iraq, but 70% of America can't pay for college.
Social Security is a mess.
Gas is $4 (I actually prefer it that way - less waiting in traffic)
No need for search warrants
No need to follow court rulings
No need to try criminals - just let them rot.

Thank God he is gone in 2 years.

Are the feds going to get Neteller information out of this deal? Or do they already have it?

Re: Lawrence's lawyer outstanding

Hard to say.

I suspect they do not have it. Giving it to the Feds would basically put Neteller out of business in all countries.

If the feds had it there would be no need for a forensic accountant to go through the details (the feds could)

I suspect Neteller refused to hand over names of clients, but agreed to let a forensic accountant go through it to determine what fine should be paid and to pull any suspicious terrorism/other illegal accounts.

All that being said, they may have handed it all over. Although then I don't know why the feds would need an outside accountant...

In any case if you did not pay taxes on money made through neteller I would be sitting on a hot seat and worried. If you paid your taxes, who cares...

Even if the feds have the info you are gonna have to be at the upper upper end for them to look at you. I'd guess $100k or $500k +.... Most gamblers are lifetime losers. Almost all lose every year. It is simply not cost effective for the feds to go through 2,000,000 neteller accounts with balances of $500 or even $20,000 to look for maybe 2000 accounts that are winners... Now if you had 6-7 figures there, they might look at you if they have the info.

If you figure 3% are winners and the average winning $20,000 account is up $3000, that means for every 100 $20,000 accounts the feds go through they make about $3000... It is not cost effective. And 3% is an high estimate.

Thanks Bigdaddy-

Let's go for a cool million!

Seriously, I do ok, but you'd have to have a lot of money offshore to be hitting mid 6 digit numbers and with that kind of money offshore, you'd have to have brass balls!

Wait until you see Lefebvre's lawyers, if the case ever goes to trial. They'll tie the DOJ in knots. Its time someone stood up to those bullies and created court precedents.

This has nothing to do with getting "Neteller" information. On the surface it looks like a Neteller investigation and prosecution. That is all secondary. Right now the FBI is digging through the tunnels finding where all of the funds have been going to Merchant accounts with the cooperation of Neteller themselves. With this information the DOJ can build cases against sportsbooks and individuals worldwide. When they uncover the merchant bank accounts of these sportsbooks this will ultimately lead them to foreign accounts where transfers have been made that are held by the principals of these companies. Players accounts are trivial compared to what they are actually seeking out and will uncover. When people like TEJ begin to run for cover the writing is clearly on the wall. By this coming fall the real $hit will have hit the fan. Like the BOS case, which involved a publicly traded company, the feds will have the tale of the tape for all of the big players in the industry, resulting in indictments for wire fraud and tax evasion and the like.

I hope most sportsbooks have moved their funds and most owners choose not to visit the U.S.

Unless you pick up the money in cash and haul it out of the bank with a suitcase the trail is always there for the G men to follow. These foreign banks bend over backwards for the US bully feds. Accounts can be frozen forever, as you have already witnessed in the Neteller case, albeit it was funds within the states, but they can put a hurting on any foreign company if they wanted to.

Some banks do, some don't.... Hopefully most books are smart enough to have begun moving money and hopefully to banks that do not cooperate.

In any case, this seems to be a damn good reason not to have money offshore for football season :(

..My only gripe with this thread is the yanqui who put down the confederate flag..>> that was the start of federal contol..>> in a most vicious manner..>>

remember; the south did not want to control the north; the south merely wanted to maintain their states rights; as definitively written in the u.s. constitution..!!
