DIAMOND QUESTION!!

I gave MRS MONTANA an engagement ring in 1993 and recently I have thought about getting her a new ring! NOW I know most of you don't know chit about this kinda thing, but I figured I would ask!

MY QUESTION IS:

If I end up getting her the new ring would it be inappropiate to trade in the old ring!

The ring she has now is a Marquise cut and the one she would want is an emerald cut.

SO WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK??

I think that other than the sentimental value, there is no reason to have a nice ring just sitting in the box!!

Re: DIAMOND QUESTION!!

Tony, I think you would be taking a big chance at trading in her old ring. Instead of having it sit in the box though, why not take it to a trusted jeweler and see if it can be made into a mother's ring (Mother's Day present)or something else symbolic. This will prevent the possible backlash of trading in her original one, and it will also prevent having it just sit in the box.

Re: DIAMOND QUESTION!!

TM, before you do that, ask the MRS. I know my bride does not want another ring, even if its bigger. She wants to keep the ring we got married with (until she smartens up and kicks my ass out of course). When it comes to her jewelry, she needs to be involved with the decision.

THANK YOU SHAWN!! I WILL E-MAIL FOR ADVISE!!

Yeah we have been talking about it and she is all for it!! GO FIGURE!!:doh1

But I don't think she wants to get rid of the first one! I would give it to my daughter, but Scarlett has already given her a really nice ring!

These things are VERY expensive imo and I was looking for some trade in value!!

Silly me!! lol!!:smokesmal

Re: DIAMOND QUESTION!!

Maybe I could have the first one cut and incorporated into the setting on the second ring!!

Which will be platinum!! Which is the only way to go if anyone is looking into a ring!!! MAY'N!!

Re: DIAMOND QUESTION!!

I've been married twice, and I can say with some certainty that trading in the original ring would be a BIG mistake, no matter what she says!!:doh1

Re: DIAMOND QUESTION!!

This, my friend, is an all too typical TRAP set by females for us unsuspecting, rational-thinking guys. She tells you it's OK to do the trade-in, but is badly hoping you won't, because if you do, it's proof in her eyes that you're an unsentimental, emotionless drip who'd give up a treasured keepsake for a couple bucks.

You, on the other hand, are MAYBE thinking you'll do it, after all, you have the go-ahead, and should reap the savings because you seemingly have her blessings. After all, it's a sound economic decision, right?

DON'T DO IT under any circumstances, because the shit-storm you'll unwittingly release will be prolonged, and painful for both of you! Trust me!
